Ondo judiciary Workers issue ultimatum to Aiyedatiwa over looming industrial action

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Ondo State Branch, has written Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to issue a 7days ultimatum on the need to immediate implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on May 20, 2015, regarding the release of funds to the Ondo Stute judiciary by the State Government in line with judiciary financial autonomy.

In a letter jointly signed by Comrads Afolabi Oluwafemi, JUSUN State Chairman, and Comrade Alade Kehinde, JUSUN Secretary, the Union observed with regret, the failure of the state government to implement the MOU.

The notice of industrial dispute reads, “Regrettably, the state government has reneged on certain parts of the agreements outlined in the MOU. Attached herewith is a copy of the Memorandum of understanding signed on May 20, 2015,

“As you may recall, our union embarked on industrial action to enforce the financial independence of the Ondo State Judiciary, following which the state government resolved to support and comply with the principle of a financially Independence of judiciary in line with the principle of separation of powers. However, the government has flagrantly reneged on some of the agreements in the MOU.”

“This continuous refusal by the state government to honor these agreements has had adverse effects on our members. Having waited aimlessly since 2015, we hereby issue a 7-calendar day ultimatum to the government to honor the reneged parts of the agreements in the MOU within a period of 7 calendar days upon receipt of an letter.

“Failure to comply within this timeframe will leave us with no option but to resume our suspended industrial action, which may result in industrial disharmony between the government of Ondo State and the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) Ondo State Branch

“We urge the government to take immediate action to fulfill its obligations and implement the MOU to avoid any adverse consequences,” JUSUN concluded.
