“We all miss him so dearly” – Hon. Omowunmi, Other Siblings
Family and friends gathered yesterday to celebrate the life and legacy of their beloved patriarch, Pa Samuel Olatunji Eddo, hosted by the Ohwovorioles, the Eddos, and the Adeniyans.
The grand reception, held in his honour at St. Thomas Events Centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital, drew a distinguished crowd. Among the attendees were prominent Nigerians as well as sons and daughters of the Akure Kingdom, all present to pay their last respects.
Speaking with newsmen, Hon. (Princess) Omowunmi Ohwovoriole, the youngest daughter of the late Pa Samuel Olatunji, paid a heartfelt tribute to her father, noting that his absence has left a deep void.
“Words are not enough to describe my late father. He was a perfect gentleman who gave his all to his children and to the community. The moral values he instilled in us – especially the value of selflessness – are what we continue to live by.

My father was my mentor and counselor. Even at the age of 101, his mind remained sharp and our conversations were always engaging. We all miss him dearly – his children and the community at large.”
She also extended her gratitude to the Eddo, Ohwovoriole, Adeniyan, and Fasoranti families, as well as to friends, loved ones, and associates who honoured the invitation and took time to celebrate Pa Eddo’s life.
Barr. Tive Ohwovoriole, her husband and son-in-law to the deceased, described the late Pa Olatunji Eddo as a good man who passed on strong values to his children. He offered prayers for his peaceful repose.
Dr. Folorunsho Eddo and Mrs. Oluranti Fasoranti, two of the deceased’s children, also shared warm memories of their father. They emphasized his impact not only on the family but also on the wider community.
“He lived within his means and always went the extra mile to bring smiles to the faces of those around him, particularly people in neighbouring communities,” they said.
Among the early dignitaries at the event were the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Dr. Aladelusi Ogunlade, Odundun II; Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde; Hon. D. I. Kekemeke; former Finance Commissioner Mr. Wale Akinterinwa; Sen. Adeniyi Adegbonmire; APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan; Hon. Adeniyi Alex Adedipe; Hon. Francis Belonwu; and Hon. Michael Afolabi (aka Mikky), among others.
These guests took turns to honour the memory of Pa Eddo, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
Late Pa Samuel Olatunji Eddo passed away on June 7, 2024, just five days before his 101st birthday. He was married to Princess Monisola Adeniyan and is survived by five children Folorunsho, Ranti, Mosunmola, Olawale, and Hon. (Princess) Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
