
The Rotary Club of Akure Prestige has taken up the renovation of boys hostel at the Ondo State School for Hearing Impaired, Akure.
This is part of the club’s humanitarian project for the upcoming Rotary year.
The gesture was announced when Members of Rotary Club of Akure Prestige, visited the school to assess the living conditions of the hearing impaired students.
The club also donated a grinding machine to the school during the visit.
The Outgoing president of the club, Rotarian Oloruntoba Adegoke, explained that the project was selected to directly impact the lives of students with special needs.
In an address delivered on the Occasion of the Launch of Star Project at School for the Hearing Impaired, Akure, on Wednesday, 5th June, 2025, the Incoming President of the Club, Rotarian Ajibade Dauda Kolawole, pledged that the project would be completed on time for the benefit of the students.
Rotarian Ajibade reaffirmed the club’s continued commitment to charity and community service.

In the speech tagged “Love and Caring in the Spirit of Rotary”, Rotarian Kolawole Dauda Ajibade said, “Today, we gather to launch a remarkable initiative that embodies the spirit of compassion and service that defines Rotary International. It is my privilege to stand before you at the School for the Hearing Impaired in Akure, Ondo State, to mark the beginning of our Star project, a testament to our commitment to supporting those who need it most.
“Rotary International’s legacy of humanitarian work is built on the foundation of empathy, generosity, and community development. Our organisation which is Non-for-Profit has consistently demonstrated its dedication to uplifting the less privileged and those facing physical challenges. In Ondo State, our past and present leaders in the Rotary International have shown remarkable commitment to this cause, and I am honoured to continue this tradition.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Education for the approval of our Star Project for the School for the Hearing Impaired, in Akure. This approval further demonstrated partnership drive and dedication to ensuring that every child receives a quality education, regardless of their physical abilities, is truly commendable.
“To the students of this esteemed institution, I want you to know that you are not just the future; you are the present, full of potential and promise. As the incoming President of the Rotary International, Akure Prestige Club, I pledge that we will continue to work tirelessly to complement the efforts of the state government in supporting your needs. Our Star project is a manifestation of this commitment.
“This project was not chosen without strategic reasons. It is the result of careful consideration, consultation, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by your school. We recognise that our special children require special attention, and we are committed to providing it.
“The Star project aims to bring joy, inspiration, and support to the students and staff of this school. We believe that every child, regardless of their abilities, deserves the opportunity to thrive and succeed. By supporting this school, we are not only changing lives; we are investing in the future of our immediate community.
“As Rotarians, we are driven by the belief that together, we can make a difference. Our Star project is more than just an initiative; it is a symbol of hope and a testament to the power of compassion and service.
“The Star Project: The Star Project identified for my tenure as the President of Rotary Club Akure Prestige is the “Renovation and equipping the Hostel Accommodations” for the Boys in School for the Hearing Impaired.
“The Star project is generally aimed at improving the educational experience, good and comfortable accomodations, and overall quality of life for students at the School for the Hearing Impaired.
“The specific goals of the Star project are novel: 1. Bringing joy and happiness: Enhancing the well-being and morale of students and staff. 2. Inspiring students: Encouraging academic excellence and personal growth of the students.
“3. Supporting special needs: Providing tailored assistance to students with hearing impairments.
- Community engagement: Fostering collaboration between Rotary International and the school.
“5. Empowering future leaders: Investing in the potential of students to become captains of industry, technocrats, teachers, and leaders in the future. Once again, I wish to express appreciation for the opportunity of adding values to humanity through this noble initiative,” Rotarian Ajibade said.
