AIHI embarks on Environmental Awareness Campaign, Distribution of Instructional Materials to CAC Grammar School Akure and Eji-Oba High School, Oba-Ile

EVOLVING ENVIRONMENTAL FRONTIERS FOR CLEAN CITY AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE: END PLASTIC POLLUTION IN ONDO STATE

With utmost sense of harnessing the Mother Earth, knowledge & Nature, with the menace of unguided environmental crisis. Avant-Integrity Humanitarian Initiatives (AIHI), an NGO that supports Environmental Awareness & Human Welfarism deemed it necessary to advance Environmental Protection Advocacy and Education to evolving environmental frontiers in Two Local government Areas of Ondo State Nigeria in order to ameliorate the environmental crisis within our neighborhoods.

On the Occasion of World Environmental Day, Avant-Integrity Humanitarian Initiatives (AIHI) led by the director; Tpl. Segun Orimoloye, Mnitp, Rtp, arpa deemed it fit to create the awareness of all Environmental users and enthusiasts to embrace the values of the Environment.

While mitigating the effects of environmental crisis resulting from human activities. Students communities from two local government areas of Ondo state were encouraged to embrace the Virility of a Sane, Safe & Clean City; by saying NO to Plastic Pollution in Ondo State.

The Advocacy campaign, was tagged with the theme; ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: EVOLVING FRONTIERS FOR CLEAN CITIES AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.

The Beneficial School communities are CAC Grammar School Akure, Akure South Local Government Area and EJI-OBA High School Oba-Ile Akure North Local Government Area Ondo State Nigeria.

It was indeed an environmental knowledge widening campaigns on the World Environmental Day held on the 5th June, 2025 about 8:00am (WAT) at CAC Grammar School and 12:00pm (WAT) at EJI-OBA High School Oba-Ile highlighted with:

 additional sessions for the distribution of Instructional Materials such as Books, Wastes Disposal Bins and
 Schoolarships Awards to excellent students in selected Environmental Subjects.
 Also, launching of AIHI Environmental Club.
 Renewal of a year commercial billboard placed at Mojere Market Ilesha garage since April 10, 2024. in order to drive more attention of the populace to environmental sanity.

During the Campaign, the beneficial school students were regarded as the evolving environmental frontiers needed for Clean cities, and sustainable future.In the cause of the Campaign, the evolving environmental frontiers (Students) were made to know some conceptual meanings of Environment, Environmental Education, sustainability & Sustainable future.

Environment: Environment could be regarded as the sum total of all the living and non-living elements and their effects that influence human life.

Sustainability: it means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainable future means moving towards a consistent resource-efficient circular economy, and by turning away from the predominantly linear economy which produces waste.

A sustainable future requires preserving and restoring natural resources and ecosystems. This involves practices such as responsible land use, protection of biodiversity, conservation of water resources, and reduction of pollution.

Sustainable Lifestyles are considered as ways of living, social behaviors and choices, that minimize environmental degradation (use of natural resources, CO2 emissions, waste and pollution) while supporting equitable socio-economic development and better quality of life for all.

The Campaign was rounded-up with the launching of AIHI Environmental Club in each schools, so that they could propagate the gospel of a sane environment to people around them. The Campaign lecture was summarized with the adoption of some sustainable lifestyles to improve the quality of our environment. Hence the following are the;

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP PROTECT YOUR ENVIRONMENT

 Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away.
 Follow the three “R’s” to conserve natural resources and landfill space.
 Volunteer: Volunteer for cleanups in your community. You can get involved in protecting your watershed, too.
 Educate: When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources.
 Conserve water: The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.
 Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag. Use long-lasting light bulbs: Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!
 Plant a tree: Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.
 Don’t send chemicals into our waterways: Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.
 Eat more vegetables….
 Throw away less food.

The Executive Director of AIHI, Tpl. Segun Orimoloye, Mnitp, Rtp, arpa. further tasked the students to embrace the Virility of their environments by embracing sustainable practices to promote an healthy environment.

In his words, he encouraged the students to always endeavour to keep their environment clean & safe. He charged the teeming students to be responsible for their environment, making it clean and safe by saying NO to plastic pollution.

The director also opined that the students are considered as point of contacts to their parents by also embracing sustainable practices. People found in the habits of dumping wastes along drainage facilities and waterways should desist from such evil acts. It’s an attempt to destroy the environment. Because flooding is a lingering phenomenon bedeviling our environment, amidst other environmental crisis.

Also, it will be difficult to see the full manifestation of an healthy environment without the acknowledgement of relevant professionals in the physical environment most especially Town Planners.

Students in these citadels of learning was able to acknowledged more, that they are the evolving environmental frontiers and the engagement of ideal environmental professionals most especially Town Planners are unavoidable.

Town planners are Environmental specialist that manages Land Spaces with specific uses, without depriving the future generations of their access to an healthy, balanced environment & sustainable future.

Town planners care for the present generation, so that the future generations will not be deprived of the core benefits of a sane environment. Together, We can make our Environment better for the future generation.

It will also interest the school communities & general public to know that Town planning is the art and science of ordering the use of land, sitting of buildings and communication routes, effective waste management by ensuring a practicable degree of economy, healthy environment, aesthetics, convenience & functionality.

However, people are enjoined to embrace Town Planning for Safe & Clean Environment.
