NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT OF 14-DAY WARNING STRIKE IN ALL THE ONDO STATE OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS.
Kindly recall that several efforts have been made by the leadership of the Joint Action Committee of Ondo State Owned Tertiary Institutions (JAC-ODSTI) to call the attention of the state government especially the Visitor of our institutions to our plights and poor living conditions occasion by poor and inadequate funding of the various institutions, failure to implement the National Minimum Wage, failure to pay accumulated arrears of the previous National Minimum Wages, failure to pay the last tranche of our Wage Award, failure to pay gratuities to our retired members and failure to pay 6 months outstanding salary arrears to the workers of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
We have written several letters to the state government and we met personally with Mr. Governor on 1st May, 2025 where promises were made to resolve all our demands but nothing has been done to put smile on our faces as promised by Mr. Governor.
This mandated us to issue a 7-Day Utimatum to the state government on 2nd June, 2025 to meet our demands but up till now, we have not heard or seen anything being done to resolve our issues.
Having realised that the State Government is playing politics with our lives and the lives of our children in all the state owned institutions as well as Tertiary Education Sector in Ondo State, we have no other alternative than to direct our members to embark on a 14-DAY WARNING STRIKE (at first instance) with effect from 12:00 midnight of Thursday, 19th June, 2025.
All the members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU); Non-Academic Staff Union ((NASU); National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; University of Medical Sciences, Ondo and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo are hereby directed to proceed on the 14-Day Warning Strike with immediate effect.
Kindly note that the 14-Day Warning Strike shall be total, hence, no concession is given to any of our members to perform any official duties during the period of this warning strike and any of our members found in their offices during this warning strike shall be seen as saboteurs and shall be treated as such.
We hereby appeal to all the stakeholders in Ondo State especially the political leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders to kindly intervene in this issue before it snowball into total shutdown of academic activities in all the institutions in Ondo State. Aluta continua, Victoria Ascerta!
