
ODHA RECEIVES NAMES OF FOUR ADDITIONAL COMMISSIONER NOMINEES, SLATES SCREENING FOR TOMORROW
Ondo State House of Assembly has received four additional names of Commissioner Nominees forwarded by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa requesting for confirmation.
The names include: Pastor Ademuwagun, Engr. Leye Akinola, Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka and Honourable Adesoji Afolabi.
This was made known today at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji, at the House of Assembly Complex in Akure.
Earlier,the Clerk of the House, Barrister Benjamin Jaiyeola had read the Governor’s letter on the floor of the House for confirmation.According to the letter,the request is in line with section 192(1&2)of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The House Majority leader,Hon(Chief) Olatunji Oshati moved the motion for the request to be referred to the committee of the whole for scrutiny, while the lawmaker representing Odigbo Constituency 1, Honourable Olatunji Ifabiyi seconded the motion.
The House directed the four Commissioner nominees to appear before it tomorrow, Friday 27th June,2025 for screening with their valid certificates and updated copies of curriculum vitae of at least 40 copies each for vetting and documentation.
Appreciating other lawmakers for their usual corporation and dedication to legislative business at all times,the Speaker of the House commended them for the show of transparency and maturity at the last screening exercise of the 12 Commissioner nominees.
While deliberating on matter of urgent public importance, the House discussed extensively on the need to sensitize the general public through advocacy and jingles on measures to prevent and contain the spread of Lassa Fever in Ondo State.
In his contribution,the lawmaker representing Akoko South West Constituency 1, Honourable Raymond Daudu, called on the Ministry of Health to be more proactive and come up with ideas aimed at keeping the disease at bay in the State.
Also, the lawmaker representing Irele Constituency, Honourable (Dr ) Chris Ogunlana and that of Akure South 2 Constituency, Honourable (Barr)Steven Abitogun admonished the residents of Ondo State to avoid contact with rodents and maintain hygiene environment at all times.
Also, a bill for a law to establish Ondo State Coastal Management and for other matters connected therewith,2024 sailed through the first reading. The private member’s bill was sponsored by the lawmaker representing Ese Odo Constituency, Honourable (Primate) Oluwatoyin Allen.
The Speaker of the House, later announced the reconstitution of standing committee of the House with a charge to exhibit practical democracy, commitment and faithfulness at all times.
