‘Mama No dey Fear Juju’ —Akeredolu’s wife mocks Owo gods, Traditionalists

.•• says “Where are your gods when kidnappers come knocking ?“

Former First Lady of Ondo State and unapologetically outspoken Igbo daughter, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has taken to Facebook to call out what she described as “misplaced curses and misguided gods” in the face of a serious kidnapping wave sweeping across Owo and wider Ondo State.

In a post that could melt carved idols and spark online giggles, Mrs. Akeredolu questioned why kidnappers—rampaging across the state like they’re auditioning for a Nollywood thriller—have not been on the receiving end of the infamous wooden gods’ wrath.

“It is the mother of their children they are cursing,” she wrote, adding a barrage of return-to-sender hand emojis and declaring, “Notin do me!”

The cyber-slapback didn’t stop there. Declaring she remains “#ProudlyIgbo” and bearing her signature title “#AdaOwere I”, she dismissed the power of carved deities with a mic-drop: “Only a believer will be scared of carved wooden gods. AdaOwere1 no send!”

Observers say her post was a tongue-in-cheek jab at those targeting her with traditional curses rather than addressing the real issue—kidnapping and insecurity in the state.

“Where are your gods when kidnappers come knocking ?”

While the kidnappers are reportedly still at large, their evasion of spiritual consequences has left the ex-First Lady unimpressed and unafraid.

Social media users have since joined in, some backing her sass and others clutching their ogbono soup in shock.

One commenter replied: “Mama no dey fear juju. Juju dey fear Mama.”

Another posted, “If Naija had more Bettys, these kidnappers would be running to confess by now.”

“Ada Owere1 neva fear man, shey na piece of wood I go dey fear? Mbanuu! ”
