The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has redeployed the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Olutokunbo Afolabi and replaced him with another CP, Lawal Adebowale.
No official reason haa been given for the sudden removal of the CP, but SUNSHINETRUTH News gathered that the redeployment may not be unconnected with Afolabi’s strong stand against cultism ravaging Ondo town and his anti-drug war.
It was also leant that contrary to an online report, the IGP decision to redeploy has nothing to do with June 12 protest by Omoyele Sowore’s group in Ondo state.
Afolabi who has been described as one of the best Commissioners of Police to have served in Ondo state, in terms of community policing, fight against crimes and policemen’s welfare, and his sudden redeployment came as a surprise to many stakeholders.
