Ajibade Kolawole takes over as President, Rotary Club of Akure Prestige

….As Oloruntoba Adegoke completes Eventful Tenure.

Rotarian Oloruntoba Adegoke on Wednesday 2nd July, 2025 handed over mantle of leadership of Rotary Club of Akure Prestige to  Rotarian Ajibola Dauda Kolawole in brief and colourful event.

The handing over held at Rotary Club House, Akure was attended by leaders, Elders and members of the club especially from Akure Prestige, while eminent personalities, past Governors and Presidents attended the event including Dr Deji Akinwalere.

In an acceptance speech, the new President, Rotarian Ajibade Kolawole appreciated the club’s members and leaders for the confidence reposed with the huge responsibility.

Rotarian Ajibade said, “I will like to first mention that my leadership shall be anchored on collective responsibility. It shall be driven by image of “leadership by all for all”. As I embark on this new journey, I promise to be guided by the following four (4) core mantra: 1. Progress, 2. Unity, 3. Social  development and 4. Human development.

“Let me announce that my Star Project has been identified and inaugurated at the School for the Hearing-Impaired, here in Akure, Ondo State capital. This Star Project is my dream project. It involves a complete renovation of the Boys’ Hostel and equipping the Hostel with modern facilities for better living standard of the students at the School for the Hearing – Impaired, Akure.

“This is part of the Push for human development irrespective of the social status. The aim of the Star Project is to create a brighter future for the students of the school for them to feel the sense of affection and love and to know that there is ability in disability.

“In the more volume, the Star Project targets those who are physically challenged, particularly at the school for the Hearing – Impaired in Akure, to make a positive change in the lives of the students, helping them to reach their full potentials in life. This Star Project will be in the heart of Rotary Club of Akure Prestige under my leadership and mentorship.

“I rely on your full support and contributions towards this Star Project during my tenure as the President to make a lasting impact by completing the renovation of the Boys’ Hostel at the School for the Hearing Impaired and equipping the hostel with modern facilities.

“We shall be officially launching the project here today. In conclusion, I humbly enjoin you all to join me on this journey to share your talents, expertise and passion for service. Together, we are determined to achieve greatness and leave a legacy that will inspire future generations.

“Thank you for this honour and I look forward to working with you all to make Rotary Club of Akure Prestige shine brighter than ever in the Sunshine State, our dear Ondo State of Nigeria.Let us march forward together with progress, unity, social and human development as our guiding principles. In PUSH our dreams become reality!

“Your Excellency the Governor of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Ayeidatiwa and his able Executive members, Members of the Legislature, members of the Judiciary, Our Royal Fathers, International and national leaders of Rotary Club, great Rotarians from across the world, across Nigeria, and Ondo State here present, the esteemed members of Rotary Club of Akure Prestige, Distinguished guests, honoured friends and associates, Our invited dignitaries, and well wishers, all the personalities representing different stakeholders and representatives of sister Non-governmental organizations, Gentlemen of the Press.

“We sincerely appreciate your great sacrifice of time and of presence. Permit me to say that “the Rotary Club of Akure Prestige values your love”. I stand before you today humbled and honoured to accept the mantle of leadership as the president of Rotary Club of Akure Prestige. I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence you have reposed in me to lead this esteemed club at this God chosen time,” Rotarian Ajibade said.

….AS OLORUNTOBA ADEGOKE COMPLETES EVENTFUL TENURE

Earlier, while handing over to his successor, the outgone President,  Rotarian Oloruntoba Adegoke said the club achieved many successes during his tenure despite economic  challenges.

Outgone president, oloruntoba adegoke opined that, “I’m proud of what we have achieved together; Induction of new members into the club;  Matana and Shinehead project supporting the 2024 World Prince Reading Day; Giving of gifts, cash and material gifts to nursing mothers; Distribution of books and writing materials to Imafon Secondary School; Payment of school fees for our club-adopted children;

“Carrying out environmental sanitation in collaboration with Ondo State Waste Management and Akure South Local Government; Donation of grinding machine to the Ondo State School of Hearing Impaired, Akure; Renovation and commissioning of Library project at African Church Comprehensive High School, Alagbaka, Akure, And many other projects.

“These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our members. Rotarians from sister clubs, partners, supporters and friends. I want to say thank you to everyone for making this a reality.

“As I hand over the reign of Presidency to our new President, Rotatian Ajibade Dauda Kolawole, I have every confidence that he will lead our club to even greater heights.

“As I used to say, I can only boast of being successful if he succeeds. I wish him a successful and eventful tenure. I urge everyone to continue supporting our new leadership team and to keep the Rotary spirit alive.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported in one way or the other the club during my term as President. Your trust, guidance and encouragement have meant the world to me. As we move forward, let us continue to embody the Rotary motto, Service Above Self. Let us strive to make a positive impact in our community and beyond. Let us continue with the magic of Rotary so that we can unite for good in this Rotary year,” Rotarian Adegoke said.

Official inauguration of the new Executive of the Akure Prestige of Rotary Club will take place later this month.
