….No Promotion to GL.15 for some Workers without Degree.
The Ondo State Government has approved a major step in civil service career advancement, granting officers in the Intermediate, Superintendent, and Executive cadres with relevant university degrees the opportunity to rise to Grade Level 15 (GL.15).
This policy shift, effective from January 1, 2025, comes after numerous appeals to the Head of Service by officers across ministries, departments, and agencies.
The agitation hinged on the acquisition of higher qualifications, specifically university degrees, which previously had not guaranteed progression beyond Grade Level 14 for certain cadres.
A circular signed by Mrs. R.O. Dare-Atunse, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of Establishments and Training, confirmed the approval and sighted by SUNSHINETRUTH News Reporter
The circular clarifies that only officers whose degrees are directly relevant to their career line, and who have served a minimum of three years on GL.14, are eligible.
However, officers in the Superintendent/Technician cadres within the health sector are excluded from this elongation exercise, pending further directive.
The circular also emphasized that all promotions remain subject to availability of vacancies, and that officers must comply with existing schemes of service.
To ensure wide awareness, Accounting Officers have been directed to circulate the content of the circular across their respective MDAs.
The public and concerned officers have also been advised to seek clarification from the Office of Establishments where necessary. Rovingreporter
