…..Group’s DG, Asagunla promises Interior Minister, Tunji-Ojo’s full support to welfare of members.
The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) on Wednesday held its first joint meeting of the State Executive, Local Government coordinators and selected stakeholders from across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
The meeting was convened to commence the process of sensitisation for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and to ensure that people, even at the grassroots, continue to enjoy the transformative efforts of the present administration at both federal and state levels.
Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the political group, Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) promised one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In his address, the AMG Director General, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, reiterated the group’s unwavering commitment to championing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels of governance.
The Director General (DG) said the group has inaugurated coordinators in each of the 18 local governments and 203 political wards to mobilise support for Tinubu in the state.
Being the first meeting after the victorious gubernatorial election in the state, Asagunla expressed deep appreciation to all AMG members for their relentless efforts in securing victory for the APC and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa at the polls and charged members to remain steadfast and fully prepared as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu gears up to seek reelection in 2027.
The DG emphasised that AMG is more than a political organisation, it is a family bound by shared values and mutual respect, assuring members that their welfare and interests would always be a priority under the leadership of Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who, he said, is sincerely appreciative of their sacrifices and dedication.
Asagunla called on members to sustain their efforts and continue to work for the growth and success of President Tinubu, the APC, and good governance across all levels.
Asagunla said the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, appointed two substantive ministers, aside from other juicy appointments given to citizens of the state, which made him qualify for support of the entire indigenes of the state, and thus deserved support from the citizens of the state.
He said it would be wrong for the state to lose the next general elections with two substantive ministers, the governor, national assembly members, and other juicy appointments at the Federal level, hence the need to mobilise for the reelection of Tinubu on time.
His words “The last time we had an election here, we lost. That’s when we had the governor during Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection.
We didn’t want that to repeat itself in Ondo State. We have proven the fact that APC is on the ground in Ondo State by winning the governor’s election, 18-0, by winning the chairmanship election, and all the elections we have had so far.
“And now that the president has appointed two of our sons to his cabinet, and they are doing very well as far as we are concerned, it is our time to pay back to Mr. President by saying thank you. We are going to say thank you through our votes.
Asagunla said the AMG would reach out to the opposition party, and that is why the Deputy Governorship of Labour Party (LP) in the last governorship election, Hon Dayo Awude, would be joining the APC within weeks.
He said “Anybody that is supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ondo State is our friend, be it the governor, be it other groups that are springing up, provided all of us are working towards the same goal. We have no enemy to fight. Anybody who believes in Tinubu is our friend.”
In his words, the Ondo State Commissioner at the NDDC, Hon. Otito Atikase, commended AMG for its grassroots impact and urged members to demonstrate even greater commitment in every assignment entrusted to them. He cautioned against divisive narratives and the misconception that AMG operates in isolation within the party.
“People should stop causing unnecessary problems within the party by thinking that AMG, under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Interior, is not in collaboration with other groups. We are working in synergy with everyone in the APC. We are solidly with the Governor, and our leader is committed to supporting the Governor and all stakeholders within the party. But let it be clear, we will not, under any circumstances, compromise our core values or the interests of our members.”
Hon. Atikase added that AMG’s strength lies in its ability to bring together diverse groups under one umbrella to achieve a common purpose: progressive governance and empowerment of the people.
The meeting ended with a renewed pledge from all attendees to redouble their efforts and work tirelessly towards ensuring the continued success of President Tinubu, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC, and the people of Ondo State.
The meeting was well attended by a broad spectrum of AMG leadership and stakeholders. Discussions centred on key strategies for mobilisation ahead of 2027, enhancing synergy with other APC structures, and deepening the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.
The session also featured deliberations on members’ welfare packages, with assurances that the leadership remains committed to supporting members as they continue to drive the group’s mission forward.
