
The House of Representatives Passes Bill Sponsored by Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero for the Establishment of Federal College of Education, Oyin Akoko, Ondo State — Third Reading Successfully Completed.
Only recently , the Federal Government upgraded the only Federal College of Education in Ondo State to Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.
The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, passed the Bill for an Act to amend the Federal Colleges of Education Act, Cap. F8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2024, to provide for the establishment of a Federal College of Education in Oyin Akoko, Ondo State.
The Bill, sponsored by Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, Member representing Akoko NorthEast/NorthWest Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Students Loan, Scholarships, and Higher Education Financing, was read for the third time and scaled through with overwhelming support from members of the Green Chamber.
Speaking on the significance of the development, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero noted:
“The passage of this Bill is a clear testament to what committed representation can deliver. The proposed Federal College of Education in Oyin Akoko will not only broaden access to teacher training and professional education but also stimulate local development and position Akoko land as a hub for academic excellence in Nigeria.”
He further expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their backing and reaffirmed his commitment to championing initiatives that deliver lasting impact on the lives of his constituents and the Nigerian education sector at large.
According to him, the passage marks a significant step in the legislative journey of the Bill and represents a historic win for the people of Akoko and the entire Ondo North region.
With the successful third reading, the Bill will now be transmitted to the Senate for concurrence, as part of the next legislative processes before being forwarded to the President of the Federal Republic for assent into law.
