…..Raise Alarm over influx of illegal Immigrants in Ondo State, Apprehend 10.

The Nigeria Police Force, Ondo State Command has confirmed the killing of Okada rider in a clear case of motorcycle robbery.
Briefing newsmen in Akure at the weekend on some of the steps to fight crimes, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lawal Adebowale, also announced the arrest of some suspects in connection with different crimes across the state including foiling an attempted Jungle Justice in Ondo Town where hospital was attacked by irate Okada riders.
The angry reaction followed earlier killing of Okada Rider at Yaba area of Ondo town by the notorious motorcycle snatcher
The CP said;
Armed Robbery/Murder – Okada Rider Shot Dead in Yaba; On 30th July 2025, at about 0508hrs, the body of an Okada rider, Nwike Sabbat (25), was found on Mimiko Street, Yaba, Ondo. He had been shot dead in an apparent motorcycle robbery. The suspect crashed while fleeing and was arrested with the victim’s motorcycle and a live Beretta ammunition. Investigation is underway to establish broader criminal connections.
Attempted Jungle Justice Foiled in Ondo Town; In a related development, the arrest of the notorious motorcycle snatcher mentioned earlier sparked a disturbing reaction. While the suspect was receiving medical treatment under police watch after sustaining injuries during his arrest, a group of irate motorcyclists stormed the hospital armed with dangerous weapons, intending to lynch him.
The group vandalized sections of the hospital and caused panic among patients and staff. The swift intervention of police operatives led to the arrest of three of the assailants before they could carry out their unlawful act. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and will be prosecuted upon conclusion of the inquiry.
Burglary – Three Suspects Arrested in Akure: On 19th July 2025, Justice Olukayode Arowosegbe reported a break-in at his residence along Ondo Road, Akure. Following swift investigation, three suspects—Michael John (Plateau), Yusuf Mohammed (Kebbi), and Samson Gini (Kano)—were arrested. They confessed to several burglaries and the theft of electrical wires. Investigation continues.
Arrest of Notorious Motorcycle Snatcher in Yaba On 29th July 2025, operatives of Yaba Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Michael Olasukanmi, male, aged 37, at his hideout located at No. 76 Temikolowa Street, Yaba, Ondo Town. The suspect had been on the Command’s watchlist for his alleged involvement in multiple violent motorcycle thefts carried out at gunpoint.
Items recovered from the suspect include:
•One black Police beret cap
•A pair of black gloves
•Three locally-prepared pots containing various charms
•One local sponge
•Vandalized electrical cables.
Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may be a member of a wider criminal syndicate involved in coordinated vehicle theft and cable vandalism. He is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Intelligence and Tactical Response Squad (TIRS), Akure for further investigation.
Robbery Suspect Apprehended Through Community Effort in Okitipupa
On 25th July 2025, one Samuel Akingbehinje, aged 23, was apprehended by community youths at KK Hotel, Okitipupa, after robbing a victim of an iPhone 12 Pro Max using an axe. He admitted to passing the stolen phone to one “Toga” of Mayowa Quarters, Akure. Investigation to apprehend the accomplice is in progress.
The Ondo State Police Command strongly reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against jungle justice and all forms of mob action. No individual or group will be allowed to take laws into their hands under any circumstance.
ARREST OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASE
On the 31st of July, 2025, at about 1430hrs, operatives of the Command apprehended ten (10) foreign nationals at their respective residences along Oda Road, Akure. These individuals were discovered to have illegally smuggled themselves into Nigeria from the Republic of Benin. Some of them were in possession of expired international passports, while others had no valid travel documents whatsoever.
The arrested suspects are as follows:

3.Saibou Akateliwe – Male, 33 years
4.Abdul Jahao – Male, 26 years
5.Ndah Severin – Male, 27 years
6.Kumpori Ruth – Female, 19 years
7.Kumpori Martin – Male, 31 years
8.Tatiana Madous Dianne – Female, 32 years
9.Martias Sossa – Male, 22 years
10.Ndapola Oba Giove – Male, 30 years
Investigations revealed that these suspects criminally conspired to bring one Nzaou Yelica Christ-Olse (Male, 29 years, Congolese) into Nigeria without his consent. The victim, who was deceived under the pretense of receiving assistance to start an online business, was later abandoned by the group upon arrival.
This act constitutes a clear violation of Nigeria’s immigration and anti-trafficking laws. The case has since been transferred to the relevant departments, including the Nigeria Immigration Service and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for further investigation and prosecution. The victim is safe, in custody of the authorities, and receiving appropriate support.
