Without any form of equivocation, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu CCFR is giving Nigeria and her citizens a new lease of hope and life. And the administration’s success hinges on the quality of the team put together by Mr. President to drive his vision and agenda and the inception of the Government.
Precisely, on the 21st August, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, having previously appointed, presided over the swearing in ceremony of 47 Ministers to be part of the Federal Executive Council and take charge of the affairs of the nation’s Federal Ministries.
Barely two years after assumption of office, some of the Ministers are giving a good account of themselves and performing excellently; deserving and receiving commendations from Nigerians and the international community. One of such is the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo. Not a newbie in politics and administration, having served as a two term member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Akoko North East/North West of Ondo State and a successful private owner of businesses, Bunmi Tunji Ojo has performed creditably well in this new office.
Since assuming office, Dr. Tunji Ojo has infused new energy and drive to the ministry with various innovations and creativity, through the ranks of the Agencies under the ministry’s supervision as well as the board. What we have today is a total departure from the past and one can simply say that the glory days of the Interior Ministry are here. His style of leadership has repositioned the entire ministry and placed it on the path of excellent performance; leading to laudable achievements.
Vigorously pursuing the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Dr. Bunmi Tunji Ojo can be described as the Brand Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration. This he demonstrates by his constant reference to President Tinubu in most of his speeches in several fora.
Below are some highlights of his achievements since assumption of office:
*The clearance of 240, 000 passport backlog in three weeks is an unprecedented feat Nigerians will continue to relish for a long time. In addition and for the first time in the history of our existence as a country, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora can now upload their passport photographs online to apply for international passport, and they get it delivered at the doorsteps of their homes or offices.
*The installation of e-gates at Nigeria’s International Airports is a commendable one. This affords Nigerians with e- passports to seamlessly pass through screening at the airports without any form of interaction with Immigration officers.
*The building of a 1.4 petabyte Digital Data Centre, located at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Sauka, Abuja, Nigeria, is a key component to support the efforts of the NIS as well as enhance National security.
*The unprecedented championing of the release of 4,068 low risk inmates remains a laudable feat. This effort decongested the correctional centres and saved the Government Billions of naira in upkeep.
*The unprecedented introduction of digital inmate profiling, biometric tracking and digital case files now discourage jailbreak as everyone who escapes during jailbreak would be re-arrested.
*The introduction of Mining Marshals through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to protect the nation’s mineral resources.
*Expansion of Safe schools to secure schools nationwide.
*Reduction of fire emergency response time to less than 15 minutes in major cities.
*Equipping the Federal Fire Service with modern trucks and response vehicles.
*Transforming the National Fire Academy into a world -class training hub.
*Facilitating the unprecedented promotion of 32,000 paramilitary officers, of which many had been in the same rank for years.
*Introduction of Insurance and Housing Scheme for paramilitary officers for the first time in history.
*Building a Unified Command and Control Centre to monitor all agencies under the Interior Ministry.
*Introduction of an e-visa platform to make travel documentation faster and more transparent.
On a final note, it is amazing and heartwarming that all these laudable feats were achieved in less than two years in office of Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo as the Interior Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Following this, one can safely describe this time as the Golden Era of the ministry; driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And one can easily pontificate that the remaining two years of his stay in the ministry, if the President does not move him elsewhere, would take the Interior Ministry to the El-dorado. Whatever it is, when the history books are written of this administration, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo would occupy a prime place.
