
Zonal Muslim Youth Camp kicks off in Ondo, as Stakeholders harp on Innovation among young persons
Stakeholders converged on Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday for the opening ceremony of the 2025 Zonal Youth Camp that is being hosted by the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria, FOMWAN, Ondo State Chapter.
With the theme “Empowered Voices, Greener Choices,” the week-long camp has drawn young Muslim participants from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Kwara States to engage in activities promoting leadership, civic responsibility, climate consciousness, responsible digital conduct, and faith-based personal development.
Delivering a lecture, a Don and lawyer, Alhaja Olamide Muhammad, declared that when Nigerian youths make innovation and creativity their watchwords, numerous challenges facing them and the nation at large will die prematurely
Muhammed who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, said the challenges confronting the youths ranged from unemployment to poverty, prostitution, drug addictions, insecurity among others
Speaking on the theme, “EMPOWERED VOICES GREENER CHOICES,” the legal practitioner identified constant change in government policies, lack of information and support as barriers to empowerment but encouraged the youths to always acquire new skills to be self-reliant

The Ondo State Ameerah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Medinat Omikunle, described the camp as a transformational platform that equips youths to take ownership of their future, think responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to society.
She urged participants to maximize the opportunity for learning, growth, and networking with peers who share similar values and aspirations.
Welcoming the Islamic mothers and the youths, the FOMWAN Zonal Coordinator, Alhaja Sariyu Olaoye and state’s President/Amerah, Alhaja Medinah Omikunle urged the participants to acquire new skills through the programme
In a remark, the Chief Imam of Akureland, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede described time as precious hence the faithful should remain focused and put into practice whatever they learnt.
Highpoint of the gathering, well attended by spiritual and traditional rulers such as the chief Imam of Obaile kingdom, Alhaji Daud Ajigbotoluwa, Professor Ishaq Àmọ̀ó, was Qur’an recitation, excursion, physical exercise and social night.
The Muslim youth event will last for one week.
