…. Caution against Provocative Comments

Akoko Indigenes under the umbrella of the Akoko Development Initiative (ADI) have defended and justified the choice of Ikare Akoko as the capital of the proposed Ose State.
In a Press Statement signed by Afolabi Amure, Esq.; Olanrewaju Kazeem, Esq. and Pa Lawrence Ibukun Rogbitan, the Akoko group appealed to Owo people to support the choice of Ikare as the Capital City for the Ose State in the spirit of fairness and merit.
The group said, “it is our strong belief, that the proposed CAPITAL shall be a place that is relatively ACCESSIBLE to ALL the constituent communities that would make up OSE STATE and IKARE which is naturally a NODAL TOWN has a road network of, at least, SEVEN inter-state roads linking her directly with FOUR other states of EDO, KOGI, EKITI, and ONDO, whereas, OWO, has only TWO such access roads: Akure – Benin and Owo – Ikare.
“The centrality of IKARE in Akoko readily makes it equidistant to the headquarters of the proposed Local Government Areas in the proposed OSE STATE hence it is the most suitable TOWN as the CAPITAL.”
“APPEAL FOR PEACE: In spite of provocations against Akoko sons and daughters by Mr. Olatunbosun Oladimeji, we appeal to our people to remain calm a while we present our CASE to the general public for assessment rather than engage in altercations with the Owo People of long standing good relationship. A goal that, presumably, was the intention of Mr. Olatunbosun Oladimeji.
“We, the People of the proposed OSE STATE pray that: The National Assembly do consider our Request for the Creation of OSE STATE out of the present
Ondo State and any parts of the adjoining States that may be interested in joining OSE STATE.
“Approve the creation of OSE STATE as contained in the Proposed Bill before the National Assembly with IKARE as the CAPITAL. IKARE has consistently been proposed as Capital of the proposed OSE STATE, in all the documents presented since 1995, 2009 to date, to request for the creation of OSE STATE; We therefore appeal to our compatriots from Owo and Ose to shun sentiment, politics and bare face propaganda.
“We appeal to all Leaders in all fields in Ondo North Senatorial District to come together and resolve the main issue of The capital of OSE STATE, amicably. Forward Ever, Backward Never. A struggle of over three decades must be allowed to succeed.”
