CLOSURE OF MARKETS IN AKURE IN OBSERVERVANCE OF THE 2025 AMOLE FESTIVAL

The Palace of the His Majesty, the Deji & Paramount Ruler of Akure Land wishes to notify business owners and residents of Akure that in line with traditions and culture of the land, markets, shops and stalls in Akure will be shut on Friday 29th August, 2025.

  1. The closure becomes necessary as part of the necessary rite in observing the age long tradition of the Amole Festival.
  2. There will be no opening of markets, stalls, trading or opening of shops under any guise during the festival.
    Residents, market women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to abide by this directive and ensure strict observance of the rules.
  3. Kindly note that ONLY pharmacy shops and Patent Medicine stores are EXEMPTED from closure during the festival.
  4. However, there will be no restriction of human and vehicular movement during the festival.
