
….. Police confirm arrest of 100 suspected kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Murderers in One month
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects including a staff of a popular Hotel in Akure for Stealing and Receiving Stolen personal property worth over #16million naira.
Similarly, In its vow to get Ondo State raid of criminals, the State Police Command has apprehended over 100 suspects in the month of August linked with various crimes such as kidnapping, armed robberies, cult attacks and killings.
Addressing newsmen at the force headquarters in Akure, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Adebowale Lawal, said the suspects were also linked with other crimes ranging from unlawful possession of firearms and substances suspected to be hard drugs, fraud, stealing, car theft, receiving stolen property and vandalism of public property.
According tp the CP, “On 13th August, 2025, one Gbenga Segun Ojo stole a gold necklace valued at ₦5,155,000 and sold it to Garuba Jubril for ₦3,084,000. Both are now in custody.
“On 22nd June, 2025, one Ajayi Temitope, a hotel staff at Dejavu Hotel, Alagbaka, was arrested for stealing a guest’s gold chain worth ₦11,000,000. Investigations are ongoing to recover the property.
According to the police commissioner, among those arrested is a suspected fraudster who orchestrated a N10 million scam at the popular Oloko junction in Akure and 87year-old Chief Kogbona who allegedly supplied arms to a gang of robbers from whom ten live cartridges were recovered.
CP Lawal also disclosed that officers of the Command have clamped down on vehicles without registration numbers and those using fake plate numbers.
Five cars whose chassis/VINs had been tampered with; One vehicle bearing a fake/unauthorised NANS plate number; One stolen spy police number plate, previously used in conveying illicit drugs; and one official government’s plate number, illegally used for transporting contraband goods.
“Arrest of Suspected Fraudster at Oloko Area, Akure, In yet another stride against economic and financial crimes, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected fraudster who orchestrated a ₦10 million scam in the Oloko area of Akure.
“The suspect, with a deceptive scheme, lured his unsuspecting victim under the pretense of selling scrap materials.
“Believing the transaction to be genuine, the victim paid the sum of ₦10,000,000, only to later discover that the deal was fraudulent and the so-called scrap materials non-existent.
Following a detailed investigation, the Command’s operatives tracked down the suspect and secured his arrest. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime and further revealed that he acted in concert with an accomplice who is based in Lagos.
“In a swift response, the Command has already taken proactive steps to freeze the illicitly obtained funds, thereby preventing further dissipation of the victim’s hard-earned money. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the Lagos-based accomplice and bring all those connected with the crime to justice.
“This arrest serves as a stern warning to fraudsters and economic saboteurs that the Ondo State Police Command will not tolerate any form of financial crime within the State. It also underscores our determination to protect the economic wellbeing of residents and ensure that Ondo remains unsafe for criminals of all shades
On Theft of Company Property /Arrest of Suspects, the CP said “On 20th August, 2025, two staff of Alaro Motorcycle Company, Akure, betrayed their employer’s trust by stealing goods worth ₦935,000. They confessed to selling the stolen items. Efforts are ongoing to recover the property and apprehend the buyers.”
