A new political support group, Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), has been officially launched in Ondo State with a major objective of securing over 80 percent of total votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Akure on Monday, the Director-General of the group, Pastor Olumide Obadele, said the network was established with strategic and immeasurable support from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,
He said the group was set up to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election from all political parties and affiliation.
Obadele, who credited Tinubu with “bringing Nigeria to a turning point” within 27 months of his administration, highlighted the President’s courage in removing fuel subsidy and floating the naira as landmark policies that demonstrate clear leadership.
“Our conviction to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for a second term in office stemmed from his ability to bring Nigeria to a turning point in just 27 months in the saddle of leadership,” he said. “Tinubu is not a trial-and-error leader, he knows his onions.”
The DG also acknowledged the “strategic and immeasurable support” of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, describing his role as “unquantifiable.”
According to Obadele, PNT is designed as a fusion of “old and new politicians, veterans and newcomers” to expand Tinubu’s support base beyond APC loyalists.
He announced Comrade Alfred Akinuli, former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Ondo State, as the Deputy Director-General of the movement.
He stressed that while PNT respects the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the group will run a unique style of operation anchored on modern technology and strategic media presence.
“In 2023, Ondo State gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 67 percent of the votes, the highest in the South-West. In 2027, we shall work with the party leadership and other groups to raise this to nothing less than 80 percent,” Obadele declared.
He maintained that the group is not in competition with other support organizations, but would complement them with fresh energy and methods.
“With great joy and every sense of patriotism to our dear country-Nigeria, I stand before you today to announce the debut of Progressives Network for Tinubu – a support group saddled with the sole mandate of galvanizing support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in the fast approaching 2027 Presidential Election. Please, note that this is not a campaign effort as we are well-informed that the Independent National Electoral Commission is yet to open the window for electioneering campaigns.
“As a people with strong belief in party structure and respect for leadership, we have duly informed the Ondo State leadership of the All Progressives Congress through the State party Chairman – Engr Ade Adetimehin of our existence, as well as officially informed the office or the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa about our operations in the State.
“Our conviction to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for a second term in office stemmed from his ability to bring Nigeria to a turning point in just 27 months in the saddle of leadership. His audacity to remove fuel subsidy and courage to float the naira among several other major policy decisions were characteristic of a leader with a clear definition of where he is going and knowing the path that leads there. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a trial and error leader, he knows his onions. As it stands today, we can say that a prosperous Nigeria that we have dreamt about for many years is no longer a dream as we have found in him a leader with the required capacity to take us to the Dreamland.
“As a group, our approach embraces people from other parties and even those without any party affiliation but with strong belief and conviction in the re-election of President Tinubu. This is what informed the choice of Comrade Alfred Akinuli, a Governorship candidate of Action Alliance in the 2024 Governorship election in Ondo State and the current chairman of the party as the Deputy Director General of the group.”
