
There was a confusion in Ajipowo area of Akure, Ondo state capital today following the killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Tunde Ilesanmi popularly called “Dudu” by people suspected to have carried out a jungle justice on him.
According to eyewitnesses, Ilesanmi, a middle aged man was allegedly beaten to death by some residents who claimed the deceased robbed in their area overnight in company of two other men who had since taken to their heels.
The incident however took another turn when some family members of the deceased arrived, claiming that he was not a thief but a well known okada rider in Ajipowo area of Akure.
The situation later degenerated into chaos as some angry commercial motorcyclists stormed the area in their numbers and barricaded roads around the vicinity in protest of their colleague’s death.
It took the intervention of the Police to douse tension in the area even as the street was deserted for hours.
As at the time of this report, the body of the deceased had been evacuated from the street while normal activities had also returned to area.
