The Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), Ondo State, has inaugurated officials of its women wing saddled with the responsibility of mobilising grassroots women support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in all the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
The inauguration took place on Thursday at the AMG secretariat in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The executives who were inaugurated included Coordinators for the 203 political wards, 18 local government areas and three senatorial districts of Ondo State, alongside the state Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator and Secretary.
Addressing the participants who were drawn from every part of Ondo State, the women Coordinator of AMG, Hon. Yetunde Adeyanju, promised that members of the group would henceforth move round every nook and cranny of Ondo State to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She also assured the leadership of the AMG of the women wing’s continued support and loyalty.
Speaking with Sunshine Truth, Adeyanju, a former Commissioner for Water Resources in Ondo State, described the AMG women’s wing as a gender-based group put together by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, towards the reelection bid of President Tinubu.
She stated that President Tinubu deserves to be reelected because of all the developmental programmes he has initiated, adding that the group would secure maximum votes for Mr President in Ondo State.
Her words: “The mandate of this group is to talk to every woman in Ondo State and vote for Mr President. We have been part of Ondo State politics for over two decades. The women in Ondo State know what we stand for and will definitely listen to us.”
Also speaking, the Deputy Coordinator of the group and former member of Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ose Constituency, Hon. Fola Olasehinde Vincent, said that the group aims to mobilise for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 so that he can continue the good work he has started.
She said that the women who were drawn from across Ondo State would go back home and mobilise support for Mr President among their fellow women.
Talking about the possibility of securing maximum votes for President Tinubu in Ondo State, Vincent said, “it is very realistic. For example, when I contested for House of Assembly in Ose, I got 100 percent and that was even a while ago. In 2015, we were given a target of 25 percent because Ondo State was ruled by the opposition party then. But we made 54 percent. At the last election, we were given a target of 80 percent but we had almost 100 percent.”
The Director-General of AMG, Asiwaju Muyiwa Asagunla, stated that the group, prior to the 2024 governorship election, had carried out a similar exercise when it mobilised votes for the APC across Ondo State.
He added that the group is ready to repeat the 18-0 feat achieved by the APC at the last gubernatorial election in Ondo State, come 2027 presidential election.
He said, “This is not the time to campaign for Asiwaju but what we are doing is to sensitise our people about the good works of the Renewed Hope agenda. So many things are going on in government that people don’t know about.
“The present administration has come up with NELFUND for brilliant but indigent students, which they will start paying back 10 years after graduation. At the same time you can apply for N25,000 for your upkeep monthly.
“Another one is the technical school. Abroad, people who graduated from technical schools are making more money than even graduates of universities, except for legal and medical practitioners. Technical school is free in Nigeria now, but how many of our parents know about that?”
Asagunla stressed that the AMG would set the ball rolling immediately for a massive mobilisation of support for Mr President across Ondo State.
Highlight of the occasion included the formal inauguration of the AMG women officials anchored by the Director of Legal, AMG, Mr Ade Pelemo
