Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group Commends Transfer of UNIMED Hospital to FUTA Teaching Hospital
The Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group (ÒAMG), under the leadership of its Convener, Hon. Ayodeji DF. Oluleye, has applauded the recent approval to transfer the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Akure complex, to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), to serve as its College of Medicine and Teaching Hospital.
Hon. Oluleye described the development as “a landmark stride that will not only strengthen medical education and training in Akure but also expand access to quality healthcare services for our people.”
He emphasized that the decision reflects progressive collaboration between the Ondo State Government and federal authorities, further positioning Akure as a growing hub for healthcare, education, and innovation. With FUTA’s integration of the facility, research capacity will be enhanced, medical students will have expanded opportunities, and surrounding communities will enjoy improved healthcare delivery.
Hon. Oluleye reaffirmed the Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group’s commitment to supporting initiatives that advance human capital development, education, and public health. “As a public health advocate, I see this as a defining step in the right direction. Akure deserves institutions that reflect the aspirations of its people, and FUTA’s Teaching Hospital will be a game changer for both academic excellence and health outcomes,” he stated.
The Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group congratulates the people of Àkúré, the leadership of FUTA, the Ondo State Government, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for their dedication to strengthening the health and education sectors in Ondo State.
