Dr. Olaseinde Bello appointed Pioneer Chairman of FUTA Teaching Hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee

In a significant move to strengthen clinical administration, Professor Olusegun Ojo, Chief Medical Director of Futa Teaching Hospital, Akure, has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello as the inaugural Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC). This newly established committee serves as the administrative head of the Directorate of Clinical Services, a key pillar in the hospital’s structure and one of the three main directorates governing Federal Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria.

Dr. Bello, a seasoned Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, comes with a wealth of experience and academic distinction. He completed his undergraduate training at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, followed by Residency Training at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital. He is also a proud Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics.

His career began in 2015 as Consultant Paediatrician at the former State Specialist Hospital in Akure, before becoming part of the founding medical staff at UNIMED Teaching Hospital when it was integrated into the UNIMED Teaching Hospitals Complex. Dr. Bello has also served as Head of the Paediatrics and Child Health Department at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where he is a Senior Lecturer.

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Bello has held leadership positions on several statutory and ad hoc committees within the hospital and university, including the Infection Prevention and Control Team and the Hospital/Community Liaison Committee.

Renowned for his research, Dr. Bello has published extensively in respected Nigerian and international medical journals. He is also a dedicated teacher, mentoring both medical students and resident doctors with high regard.
