ONDO NORTHWEST LCDA HOSTS MAIDEN STAKEHOLDERS ’ SUMMIT, CHAIRMAN ONIDARE SUNDAY BUKUNMI EXTENDS PROFOUND APPRECIATION
The Ondo Northwest Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, held its maiden Stakeholders’ Summit and Engagement at the LCDA Secretariat, Town Hall, Enu-Owa Palace, Ondo.
The summit, the first of its kind since the creation of the LCDA barely one year ago, brought together critical stakeholders to deliberate, synergise and explore pathways for development and growth. It provided an opportunity to review the journey, achievements, testimonies and challenges of the LCDA within its first year of existence, while also casting a vision into the future and underscoring the importance of collective contributions in achieving shared goals of progress, innovation and prosperity.
In his address, the pioneer Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Onidare Sunday Bukunmi, emphasised the importance of stakeholder engagement as a catalyst to propel the young council towards the bright future it envisions.
He stressed that the LCDA’s success is a collective testimony of all stakeholders and highlighted the council’s short, medium and long-term programmes, projects and activities. The Chairman appealed to stakeholders not to leave the LCDA — described metaphorically as a “child committed into their hands” — to carry its vision alone.
Various stakeholders present commended the LCDA leadership for its commitment, thriving efforts and fulfilment of the state government’s vision in creating the Local Council Development Areas: to bring governance closer to the people, including the very least in society. Stakeholders individually pledged their commitment to support the new LCDA to full maturity through concerted efforts.
At the summit, financial donations were generously made by stakeholders to fund immediate projects and activities lined up by the LCDA. Beyond cash contributions, notable commitments were announced: Former MHR, Hon Iranola Akinlaja; Ondo State House of Assembly Parliamentary Secretary and MHA Ondo West constituency 1, Otumba Moyiolorun Ogunwumiju; Chairman Ondo West Local Government; MD Galaxy Backbone, Hon Olumbe Akinkugbe, Dr Akintomide Micheal Ajilo amongst other notable Leaders who were represented by their envoys, also Made Significant Donations. In the same vein, Hon. Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye pledged to partner with the LCDA Chairman to facelift the walls of the LCDA temporary Secretariat, while the Chairman of the Ondo State Information Technology Agency (SITA), Hon. Tomide Akinribido, pledged to provide a functional system for the LCDA in addition to their financial donations.
The summit ended on a high note with renewed assurances of full support for the LCDA.
On behalf of political appointees and staff of the LCDA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Onidare Sunday Bukunmi, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for creating an enabling environment for governance, deepening democratic values, amplifying the voices of the grassroots and ensuring that their interests are protected.
He also thanked all stakeholders for taking time out of their busy schedules to grace the maiden summit, for their generous donations both in cash and kind, and for their continued encouragement. He reassured them of transparency, accountability, and his unwavering commitment to effective representation. He further appealed that stakeholders should see the LCDA as a shared responsibility and continue to offer advice, innovations and suggestions to ensure its steady growth.
