On 22nd September, 2025, at about 1730hrs, acting on credible intelligence, Police operatives stormed the residence of one Mrs. Ibikun Segun ‘f’ of No. 16 Ikoloma Street, Ode Aye. Upon thorough search of the premises, large quantities of a white crystal substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered. In addition, the sum of ₦25,000, believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade, was also found in her possession.
The suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody, while investigation has since commenced to trace the source of the drugs, identify possible accomplices, and dismantle any distribution network linked to her activities. She will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
Drug abuse and distribution remain one of the greatest threats to public safety as they fuel crime and criminality, endanger the lives of users, and destabilize communities. Many violent crimes such as kidnapping for ransom, robbery, cultism, and homicide are often linked to the influence of hard drugs. It is for this reason that the Ondo State Police Command has continued to intensify its crackdown on drug traffickers, peddlers, and distributors.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, appreciates the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his visionary leadership and sustained support to State Commands, which have continued to enhance operational effectiveness in tackling drug-related and other violent crimes across the country.
The Command therefore warns that it will not tolerate any act or omission capable of undermining the hard-earned security gains already achieved in Ondo State. Citizens are urged to shun illicit drugs and other vices while supporting the Police with timely and credible information that will aid the collective fight against crime and criminality.
Together, we can build safer communities where peace, security, and justice thrive.
