In a shocking incident, irate youths allegedly assaulted and beat up the Onidogun of Idogun, Oba Moses Bakare, while his wife (Queen) and son, Prince Victor Bakare, were also not spared in the attack that occurred in the town located in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The attack led to Pandemonium that occurred at Ishara Quarters as Prince Victor visited his parents to celebrate the New Yam Festival
Speaking to journalists at the palace, the son displayed visible injuries purportedly inflicted by the youths.
Victor recounted the humiliation his family faced, including his mother being stripped half-naked and having urine and other filthy substances poured on him. He also described the physical assault on the monarch.
Oba Bakare condemned the assault as a continuation of “unprovoked hostility” from a faction of youths within the community, labeling the act as “barbaric and unfortunate.”
He praised the prompt intervention of police operatives and the Amotekun Corps, who managed to quell the unrest before it escalated further.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesman of the Police in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade said “the case is under investigation and we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.”
