Students Union backs ASUU, begs Aiyedatiwa to stop poor funding of AAUA

In Solidarity with AAUA Lecturers, AAUA Student Union President Appeals to Ondo State Government for Swift Intervention Amidst ASUU-AAUA Strike

To the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa,

It is no longer news that the ASUU-AAUA chapter has been on strike for weeks, following several reports, engagements, and demonstrations aimed at resolving the irritating treatment AAUA lecturers have experienced over unpaid salaries, allowances, and other welfare concerns.

As a state-owned institution, AAUA is expected to receive maximum concentration and support from the Ondo State Government. However, recent events reflect a growing neglect of the university’s pressing needs, leaving both lecturers and students in dismay. The university community, once a paragon of academic excellence, now faces uncertainty and disruption that could compromise its future if left unattended.

It is often said that “the neglect of the needful often leads to the downfall of nations.” The current situation, if allowed to persist, may escalate into a widespread disarray that could have been averted through prompt intervention. Our lecturers, who have patiently endured withheld entitlements including salaries, have exercised great restraint in the face of hardship. However, to forestall further escalation and preserve the academic calendar, urgent government intervention is indispensable.

I humbly and firmly appeal to the Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Your Excellency, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to give prompt attention to the demands of our lecturers. Their welfare is their right and a cornerstone for quality education and academic excellence in our institution.

An injury to one is an injury to all. We stand in solidarity with our lecturers and call for a swift resolution that will safeguard the academic future of thousands of AAUA students.
