OLABIMTAN COMMENDS GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA INCLUSIVE EDUCATION POLICY AS WORLD MARKS TEACHERS’ DAY
As the world marks Teachers day , a special day set asides by UNESCO to draw attention to the plights and contributions of teachers to the moulding of young minds, on behalf of the management and staff of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board ODSUBEB, I, appreciate the invaluable contributions of teachers to development of our society.
No doubt teachers contributions to the development of the society are invaluable, unquantifiable and unmeasurable and as the Executive Chairman of this intervention agency in the basic education sector of the State, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all teachers in Ondo State, particularly this in our Public Schools, of which I’m one of you, having taught for many years and retired as Principal.
As you are aware, under the enlightened leadership of Governor Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the state government has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to education sector, payment of our matching grants as at and when due. As a result of this the board has been able to upgrade the facilities in most of our schools by constructing, reconstructing rehabilitating school buildings, fences, bole -holes including distribution of free instructional materials and sports equipment to over 900 schools across the State.
Under the EASE AGENDA of this administration, Governor Aiyedatiwa recognizes the critical role teachers play in shaping the minds of future leaders, hence, he approved the promotion of Primary Schools Teachers to grade level 16 like their counterparts the other sectors especially main stream of the civil service. This is to further drives home the point that the dedication, passion, and tireless efforts of our teachers have not gone unnoticed.
As the world celebrate International Teacher’s day, ODSUBEB honors the selflessness, professionalism, and commitment of our teachers to excellence. Towards this ends our board has been working assiduously to improve the quality of basic education in Ondo State by recruiting highly skilled professionals into our public service, with a focus on rural areas where they are needed most. Just recently, the State Government approved the recruitment of over 1100 teachers to fill critical yearning vacancies in our public primary schools across the State. The recruitment exercise was carefully planned and executed to ensure that qualified teachers are posted to their local communities, promoting a sense of belonging and commitment to their duties.
As we mark this year’s World Teachers’ Day, ODSUBEB reaffirms its commitment to supporting our teachers by enhancing the quality of their output through continuous capacity building programmes. To achieve we appeal to stakeholders in the sector to join the state Government in its efforts to develop sector since government cannot do it alone.
