….As 7 Aspirants jostle for Vacant Owa of Idanre Stool.

The Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) has launched full investigation into a petition by some Concerned citizens of Idanre against the town’s Kingmakers, who are alleged of collecting N10million bribe ll in the selection process of the new Owa of Idanre.
SUNSHINETRUTH News gathered that the petitioners accused the Kingmakers of demanding the N10 million from each Prince vying for the throne and any of the 7 aspirants who refused to pay, were disqualified.
It was further learnt that the Kingmakers claimed that the money was intended to prune the numbers of aspirants, for traditional rites and renovation of the Owa’s palace at Oke Idanre, which has been abandoned for over 45 years.
The stool became vacant following the passage of Oba Frederick Aroloye over one year ago.
In the course of interaction with the SPFACC officials, the Kingmakers maintained that the N10 million demand was agreed upon by all aspirants, who swore to an affidavit.
They stated that the money was to be used for traditional purposes and palace renovation, and that it was necessary to maintain peace and order in the stool selection process.
The petitioners argued that the selection process, which involves payment of N10 million by aspirants, is contrary to the age-long tradition and the registered declaration of the Chieftaincy Law of Ondo State.
Five out of seven shortlisted aspirants reportedly paid the N10 million, while two were disqualified for failing to meet the financial demand.
The SPFACC is expected to investigate the allegations and determine whether the Kingmakers’ actions constitute bribery and corruption.
The outcome of the investigation will likely have significant implications for the selection process and the future of the Owa kingship in Idanre.
