A heated exchange erupted on social media between Fawehinmi Kitan Lulu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Yomi Oyekan, Special Assistant on Digital Media to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over claims surrounding the formation of the Asiwaju-Datiwa 2027 Campaign Organization.
Hon. Lulu had on Friday posted on his verified Facebook page that Governor Aiyedatiwa had “inaugurated the National Body of the Asiwaju-Datiwa 2027 Campaign Organization”, describing it as a movement to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
According to the statement signed by him as Director General of the movement, Lulu quoted the Governor as emphasizing the need to sustain President Tinubu’s achievements in economic recovery, infrastructure renewal, power sector reforms, and job creation.
However, the Governor’s aide, Yomi Oyekan, swiftly debunked the claim, accusing Lulu of fabricating the story.
“Fawehinmi Kitan Lulu, a story you fabricated yourself! Don’t push me to rubbish or cast you, Lulu. I know more than you think I know,” Oyekan wrote.
“Check the time and date stamp! 25th of March 2025 was the birthday of the concept Asiwaju Datiwa, but you don’t own the slogan or the 2027 version. How come you’re claiming to be DG? Just asking.”
Aiyedatiwa’s Aide, visibly angered by the post, fired back:
“Is this one mad!? Which convener? Convener of what I created?”
The online spat escalated further as Lulu accused Oyekan of working against the government.
“Are you working for this government or working against it? Because I hear people are collecting in two,” Lulu alleged.
Oyekan, in a fiery response, wrote:
“You’re mad! You’re a scavenger. I’m not,” he posted.
The heated exchange has since generated reactions across party lines, with supporters of both men trading comments on social media over who truly originated the Asiwaju-Datiwa campaign slogan and structure.
As of press time, the office the Ondo State Governor is yet to issue an official statement clarifying the authenticity of the purported Asiwaju-Datiwa 2027 Campaign Organization. ROVINGREPORTERS
