ONDO GOVERNMENT ORDERS IMMEDIATE COMPLIANCE ON ELECTRICITY INSTALLATIONS, RIGHT-OF-WAY APPROVALS
AKURE, OCTOBER 24, 2025. —
The Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (OSERB), has issued a new directive mandating that all electricity installations, constructions, and extensions within the State—especially those along public road right-of-ways—must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The directive, contained in Regulatory Order No: OSERB/RO/2025/102/199, was signed by the State Coordinator, Engr. Stephen Olugbenga Bolawole, FNSE.
The order takes immediate effect.
According to the Order, the measure is aimed at ensuring public safety and proper coordination of electricity infrastructure across the State. It was issued under the Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law 2020, the Electricity Act 2023, and the amended Constitution, which empower states to regulate electricity generation, transmission, and distribution within their territories.
Engr. Bolawole directed that all ongoing electricity projects along public road right-of-ways be suspended immediately, until necessary permits and safety clearances are secured.
He warned that violations would attract sanctions, removal of unauthorized installations, or prosecution.
The OSERB Task Force has been mandated to enforce the Order across all Local Government Areas, to ensure strict compliance and protect citizens from unsafe power installations.
