The Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Seun Osamaye, has reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa-led Administration to the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Ondo State Chapter, and other groups working to improve the welfare of women and children across the state.

Dr Osamaye gave this assurance while receiving members of POWA, led by the wife of the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Kehinde Lawal, during a courtesy visit to her office in Akure.

She emphasised that the Ministry of Women Affairs serves as the most direct channel through which women and children in various associations can access government support and empowerment initiatives.

According to her, the numerous achievements recorded by the ministry reflect Governor Aiyedatiwa’s visionary leadership and compassion for the people, which continue to drive the ministry’s success.

While pledging more collaboration with the association, Dr Osamaye stated that the ministry remains committed to extending its reach to all segments of the population under the present administration.

She acknowledged POWA’s focus on improving the welfare of police officers’ wives, widows of fallen officers, and other vulnerable members of society, assuring them of the ministry’s open-door policy and readiness to partner on empowerment and social welfare programs.

In a demonstration of immediate support, the Commissioner presented 10 empowerment forms to POWA part of 20 forms donated by a partnering NGO to support widows in the state.

She also noted that wives of officers from other paramilitary agencies, such as Immigration and NSCDC, have benefited from similar empowerment programs facilitated by the ministry.

Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Kehinde Lawal, who led the POWA delegation, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his dedication to women’s development in Ondo State.

She highlighted POWA’s commitment to empowering police officers’ wives, particularly widows and children of deceased officers, and sought stronger collaboration with the ministry to advance their welfare initiatives.

Dr Osamaye appealed to the Governor to extend his goodwill to members of POWA, noting that such gestures would go a long way in helping the women become self-reliant and economically stable.

In attendance to receive the delegation were senior directors of the Ministry, including Mr Adegbayo Oyegunwa (Director, Social Welfare), Mrs F.O. Oladiran (Director, Women Affairs), Mrs Ronke Filani (DFA), Mrs Mefun Tophas (Director, Child Development), and Mr S.O. Oladeji (Director, Planning). Also present was Nurse Hon.
