Tragedy struck in Eleyewo, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, as a middle-aged man popularly known as Baba Apana allegedly took his own life by drinking the deadly Sniper insecticide.
According to residents of the community, the deceased, said to be in his mid-50s, did not go to the farm with his mobile phone on Tuesday before the incident.
He was said to have reportedly purchased a bottle of Sniper around Ilu Abo and went to his farm, where he was later found dead.
As at the time of filing in this report, the reason for his action remains unknown.
The deceased, who hailed from Ogoja in Cross River State, was said to have lived in the area for several years and had three children.
His remains have reportedly been deposited at a morgue, while local authorities have commenced investigations into the incident.
