Ondo Govt bans Street Trading, illegal markets

PROSCRIPTION OF ILLEGAL MARKETS AND STREET TRADING IN ALAGBAKA AXIS.

The Ministry of Environment has observed with deep concern the increasing rate of street trading and the establishment of illegal markets within the Alagbaka axis of Akure, the state capital.

This development poses serious environmental, safety, and traffic challenges, and the ministry will no longer tolerate the continuation of this unlawful practice.

It is also of importance to note that, in the course of their activities, they also litter the streets with waste. This is unbefitting of an environment where government operates and delivers good governance to the people.

Accordingly, the ministry hereby issues a seven (7) day ultimatum to all traders currently operating along the streets and unauthorized areas within Alagbaka to vacate their trading spots immediately.

At the expiration of this ultimatum, anyone found violating this directive will be regarded as an environmental law offender and will face appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law.

Let all concerned take note.

Signed:
Dr Tob Loko,
Honourable Commissioner for Environment.
