Trump’s threat: Stop propaganda, take out Bandits, sponsors urgently —Presidential Aspirant, Ikubese tells Tinubu

Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s order to the Defense Department to prepare for possible “fast” military action in Nigeria amidst reports of genocide of Christians in Nigeria, a former Presidential Aspirant in Nigeria and Seasoned Medical Doctor, Thomas-Wilson Ikubese has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have a fresh meeting with all the service chiefs and give them the marching orders to take out these bandits once and for all, while those who sponsor them be made to face the laws of the land, irrespective of their status and closeness to the corridors of power.

In a Press Release, Ikubese warns that “throwing shades at the American government, embarking on momentous propaganda or seeking to meet with President Trump, without embarking on the above will amount to a voyage in futility, for if the Nigerian government had done the needful, President Trump will have no need to put pentagon on the alert!”

He enjoyed President Tinubu to show more political will to tackle the insecurity.

PRESS RELEASE

DONALD TRUMP’S “ACTION” THREAT ON NIGERIA AND THE WAY FORWARD.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday said he has asked the Defense Department to prepare for possible “fast” military action in Nigeria following reports of genocide of Christians in Nigeria.

For several years, our political leaders have allowed bandits, kidnappers and terrorists to operate unhindered across virtually all the states in Nigeria.

We have had reported cases where security agents who have surrounded and even in some instances arrested these criminals were called and instructed to let them go, by virtue of “order from above”.

So many of our security personnels have lost their lives in the battle fields because they were restrained from opening fire when they should, in obedience to a superior order.

Just over a little over a month ago, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state lamented bitterly that he knows the locations of bandits and terrorists but is powerless to act because he does not control the security agencies.

Only recently, videos emerged of hundreds of terrorists who came for a “peace/negotiation” meeting with the government , with gamuts of ammunitions, some of them dressed in military camouflage.

It is now appearing like our political leadership across board now see this development as the new normal.

So many interests have reached out to the American authority to intervene and save the lives of those yet alive, to which President Donald Trump responded yesterday.

What Nigerians want to see, is a safe nation where individuals can practice their faith and religion without restraints and Nigerians can travel across the nation without fear of being kidnapped. If this were the Nigerian reality, President Trump will have no basis for this anticipated “action”.

Only a few hours ago, the Nigerian Presidency urged the United States to provide military support in tackling terrorism instead of designating Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

I dare say however that, far above “military support”, Nigeria needs political will!

Even if the US provides Nigeria with the best of military equipments and intelligence, it will require political will to deploy them against these terrorists.

So, I urge President Tinubu to have a fresh meeting with all the service chiefs and give them the marching orders to take out these bandits once and for all, while those who sponsor them be made to face the laws of the land, irrespective of their status and closeness to the corridors of power.

Throwing shades at the American government, embarking on momentous propaganda or seeking to meet with President Trump, without embarking on the above will amount to a voyage in futility, for if the Nigerian government had done the needful, President Trump will have no need to put pentagon on the alert!
