
Ondo State House of Assembly today passed into law a bill to amend the 2025 budget with an assurance that the passage represents a downward adjustment and not an addition.
The bill was unanimously passed into law through voice votes by the lawmakers at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji in Akure today.
The bill includes a total sum of Four Hundred and Eighty_nine Billion, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Eight million, Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand, One hundred and Seventy_three Naira, Forty_Eight kobo(489,998,360,173.48) only,out of which the sum of Two Hundred and Forty Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy_Three million, Three Hundred and Fifty _Nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty _Three Naira, Forty _Five Kobo(240,733,359,363.45) only, for recurrent expenditure, while the balance of Two Hundred and Forty _nine Billion, Two Hundred and Sixty _Five Million, Eight Hundred and Ten Naira, Three Kobo(249,265,000,810.03) only, is for Capital Expenditure for the services of Ondo State of Nigeria for the year ending Thirty_First Day of December, Two Thousand and Twenty _Five.

The Leader of the House, Honourable Olatunji Oshati, moved the motion for the bill to be passed into law and seconded by the lawmaker representing Akure South Constituency 2,Hon.Steven Abitogun.
However,the passage of the bill followed the submission of the report by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation,Hon.Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.
The revised budget was earlier read on the floor of the House by the Clerk of the House,Barr.Benjamin Jaiyeola.
The Chairman, explained that the review of the budget became necessary due to some anticipated funds from development partners which are yet to materialise, just as the fiscal year is fast coming to an end.
In his remark,the Speaker of the House, emphasized that the passage of the bill into law is in line with the prudent financial management and accountability of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa.
According to him,Ondo State government has recalibrated the budget to reflect a more realistic revenue profile and ensure a fairer allocation of the State resources across Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).
It will be recalled that Governor Aiyedatiwa in December last year signed into law of the #698 Billion 2025 Budget of recovery.
In another vein, the House paid their last respect to the body of a late lawmaker, Chief.llesanmi Oguntoyinbo who represented Akoko South West Constituency 2 during the fourth legislative Assembly (1999-2003)
The Speaker of the House, described the late lawmaker as a committed and dedicated gentleman who served God and humanity with vigour during his life time.
Also giving his tribute, the lawmaker representing Akoko South West Constituency 2,Hon.Tope Agbulu said the people of Akoko would not forget his contributions to the growth of the area in a haste, disclosing that he was instrumental to the location of Adekunle Ajasin University to Akungba_Akoko.
