The United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide (UACC), on Saturday rolled out drums to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee in grand style, proving to establish a university in Nigeria.

The 60th anniversary celebration which took place at the Church Convention Ground in Akure, the Ondo state capital, attracted who is who in the church, as it marked a special period appreciating God for keeping the church to win souls for Christ, while deserving personalities were also honoured by the church.

Rev. Dr James Owoyemi, the President of UACC, who disclosed this in Akure, the Ondo state capital, during the 60th diamond jubilee celebration of the Church said the initiative would contribute tremendously to the future development of Nigeria at large.

According to him, “the issue of the university is a plan in motion. So the Church now has acquired a land that cannot be disclosed for now. And after that, the plan again of having this united city of God is for us to have a university within the Church. To also have a hospital, we have a police station, we also have secondary schools, clinics, and so on.

“We believe that this initiative will not only benefit our Church, but also the entire Nigeria, as it will provide opportunities for young people to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to make meaningful contributions in nation-building.”

Owoyemi, who spoke on the posthumous and life awards given to some members of the Church said; “the purpose of this award is for those who have contributed immensely to the development and upliftment of the Church. You know when people are recognized when they are alive, they want to do more.

“So we use this opportunity also to appreciate all those that came from the North, West, and East of this world, and for those that came from the United Kingdom and all over the world to celebrate the 60th anniversary of this Church.

“As we gather from different places for this convention, let us remember that the United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide is not just a name, it is a reflection of our unity in Christ. Though we come from different cultures, backgrounds, and experience we are united by our common faith and mission. Let this celebration serve as a reminder that together, we are stronger.

“As we seek to deepen our relationship with God and each other, I encourage you all to take full advantage of this time to grow spiritually, to reconnect with old friends and to make new ones. Let us be reminded that the best is yet to come.

“As we are celebrating, we do so with hope and vision for the future. The next 60 years will not be defined by our past accomplishments, but by our willingness to align ourselves with God’s purpose for the future. We are called to be a Church that continues to reach the lost, equip the saints and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.”

The posthumous and life awards given to some of the members of the Church includes; lates Archbishops Moses A. Fayehun, Solomon A. Adetisola, Prophetess Julianah Oke, Rev. Emmanuel O. Tokimi, S.O Ogunlade, J.E Oluwatuase amongst others.
