15TH DECEMBER, 2025
ONDO PEOPLE ARE NOT BEGGARS, AIYEDATIWA MUST ACCOUNT FOR TWO YEARS OF FAILED GOVERNANCE
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ondo State views with deep concern the so called statewide thank you tour embarked upon by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa after spending two full years as substantive Governor of Ondo State.
At this point in his tenure, the Governor ought to be embarking on a statewide commissioning tour of completed projects rather than parading communities to share #10,000 handouts and token gestures that insult the dignity of the people of Ondo State. Our people are not beggars and Ondo State is not a charity home.
After two years in office, the Governor must account for the billions of naira that have accrued to the state including federal allocations internally generated revenue and special intervention funds. What Ondo people deserve are functional schools equipped hospitals motorable roads job opportunities and a revitalised economy not envelopes and handouts meant to mask governance failure.
Across the length and breadth of the state, public schools are collapsing healthcare facilities are in a state of ruin roads have become death traps and civil servants and pensioners continue to suffer under harsh economic realities. These are the issues crying for attention not staged tours and festive rhetoric.
Beyond press statements announcing the flag off of projects, the reality on ground is that none of these projects is up to twenty percent completion with the slowest execution pace Ondo State has witnessed in its recent history. Governance has been reduced to propaganda optics and public relations while development has been completely abandoned.
The PDP states unequivocally that Ondo people deserve quality governance not charity politics. The Governor should explain why projects announced with fanfare have stalled why contractors are absent from sites and why public infrastructure continues to decay despite steady inflow of funds.
This tour as presently conceived exposes a government that has lost direction misplaced priorities and failed to understand the real mandate of leadership. Ondo State cannot be governed with handouts and hollow speeches. We demand accountability results and governance.

Wándé T. Àjàyí,
