Akure Students’ Association (NAAS) elects new Excos, Olugbenga Samuel emerges President

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AKURE STUDENTS (NAAS) HAS HELD ITS NATIONAL CONVENTION AND ELECTED NEW EXECUTIVE MEMBERS WHO WILL PILOT THE AFFAIRS OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE NEXT ONE YEAR.

The convention, which took place at the Ulefunta Hall in Akure, the state capital of Ondo State, drew delegates from different tertiary institutions across the country and had the former president of NAAS, Ale Adegboyega, as well as other relevant stakeholders as observers.

At the end of the election, Olugbenga Samuel from Federal College of Agriculture (FECA) emerged as the new National President of the association

He polled 37 votes.

Announcing the results of the election, the electoral Chairman and Returning Officer for the election, Joseph Oluwasogo, explained that a total of 40 delegates were accredited from various institutions of learning in the country,

He added that the process was unanimously verified and accepted by all members of the Congress.

Other newly elected executive members of the body, according to the electoral committee Chairman, include the Vice President, Afolabi Opeyemi from University of Medical Sciences, Ondo; Kazeem Quadri from Federal University of Oye, as General Secretary; and Ayomideji Omonije from Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Ofuji, as Public Relations Officer.

Others are Duyilemi Stephen of Bamidele Otomilua University, there, who emerged as the Assistant General Secretary, Ajibola Damilola as Treasurer; Ajayi Toluwalase as Sports Director: Oke Kehinde as Welfare Director; and Akomolafe Adefunke as Social Director.

In his acceptance speech, the new NAAS National President, Olugbenga Samuel, promised to work for the unity of the association, adding that his administration will resist any attempt to destabilize the association or divide students along political lines..

While reiterating his commitment to good governance and the welfare of members, he declared that the new leadership would ensure students’ rights, support educational reforma, and foster peace among members.
