
Workers of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, (AAUA), have issued a 14days ultimatum to the school’s authorities and the Ondo State Government to settle all their outstanding benefits or face industrial action.
This was the outcome of the Congress of the JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE (JAC) OF SSANU, NASU AND NAAT, insisting that failure to meet up with the demand for payment of our arrears within fourteen (14) days shall lead to industrial crisis in the University
The communique issued at the end of the Congress was signed by SSANU, AAUA Chairman – Comrade A. Olutayo Ogungbeni; NASU AAUA Chairman – Comrade Clement Abiodun Ekundayo; and NAAT AAUA Chairman – Comrade Johnson O. Fagbemi.
The Unions said, “PAY US OUR OUTSTANDING ARREARS WITHIN FOURTEEN (14) DAYS: Arising from the meeting of the Congress of Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SSANU, NASU, and NAAT of Adekunie Ajasin University Akungba, held on the Thursday, 15th January 2026. The Congress discussed extensively on the various issues affecting the welfare of our members as follows:
“Implementation of recommendations of Career Structure Committee; Payment of all the outstanding Arrears of Gratuities of our retired members; Payment of Think Parties’ Deductions (Cooperatives, WEMA Bank loans, and Union check off does).
“Payment of 5 years outstanding Excess Workload Arrears (2015-2019); Payment of all outstanding Promotion Arrears (2022-2024); Payment of 54 months 2019 National Minimum Wage Arrears; Payment of 18 months 25%/35% Salary Increment; and Payment of outstanding Entitlement of Re-absorbed staff.
“After the various welfare issues had been extensively deliberated upon, the Congress resolved as follows:
- That henceforth, all the outstanding arrears as identified above should be paid with immediate effect
- That failure to meet up with the demand for payment of our arrears within fourteen (14) days shall lead to industrial crisis in the University
- That the Ondo State Government, the University Governing Council and the Management should note the above for further necessary action, please.
