
ONDO ASSEMBLY CALLS OFF RECESS, PASSES BILL ON HONOURS ROLL AND MERIT AWARDS TO SECOND READING.
In order to recognize the selfless contributions and celebrate the sacrifices of distinguished sons and daughters of Ondo State, Governor Aiyedatiwa, has today forwarded a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Ondo State Honours Roll and Merit Awards to the House of Assembly.
The bill which was passed into second reading by the lawmakers at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji, will serve as a lasting motivation for public servants and citizens of the State when passed into law.
The motion for the second reading was moved by the House Leader, Hon(Chief)Olatunji Oshati and seconded by the lawmaker representing Okitipupa 1 Constituency, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa.
The bill was, later committed to the House Committee on Government House and Protocol for scrutiny.
Also today, a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Ondo State Competition and Consumers Protection Agency was committed to the Committee stage after scaling through the second reading.
Earlier,the Speaker of the House had appreciated the lawmakers for their steadfastness at all times, just as he lauded them for the sacrifice of cutting off their recess, describing such gesture as a testament to dedication to duty and true love for the people of Ondo State.
While expressing concern over some petitions received by the House against some Local Government Areas of the State(LGAS), Oladiji constituted a five_man Ad-hoc committee to investigate the matter.
The Chairman of the Committee is Hon.Oluwatoyin Japhet, while other members include:Hon(Barr)Afe Felix,Hon.Olatunji Ifabiyi and Prince Richard Adeyekun will serve as Secretary.
Plenary sitting was later, adjourned till Monday, 2nd February,2026.
