2023 Ileoluji/Okeigbo/ Odigbo: Henry Akinsuroju joins Reps race

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Henry Akinsuroju, on Thursday obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for House of Representatives to contest for the lle-Oluji/Okelgbo/ Odigbo Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the PDP.

Speaking shortly after picking his forms, Akinsuroju popularly, called ‘Gongo Aso’, said politics was not what can be rubbed off and it is important for the development of people.

He explained that it was part of his discovery on the need for people at the grassroots to benefit sufficiently from the dividends of democracy and to prevent inexperienced representatives dominating political positions without consideration for the downtrodden.

The former State lawmaker who pledged to impact on his constituents if elected House of Reps member.

Akinsuroju noted that as an experienced legislator and grassroots politician he understands the plights and suffering of his people hence the need for his to join the race.

He lamented that people at the grassroots are suffering from bad roads and portable water supply among other amenities as taxpayers who have right to enjoy dividends of democracy.

According to him, connecting with traditional rulers and constituents to ameliorate suffering of people would be his priority.

“I’m contesting to rescue people from suffering. If there is no good representation, there will be no how to represent and defend the interest of people” he noted

Akinsuroju, who attributed the poor representation of people by some politicians who were not part of communities said if people have been adequately represented the issue of collapsed education system and unemployment would not be increasing daily in the country.

He berated the level of impoverishment of people as many at the grassroots are still fetching from stream for drinking and which shouldn’t be so.

Safety of lives and property, according to him will encourage farmers to go to farm for food security in the country.
