A former Director General of his Campaign Organisation during the 2019 general election, Chief Tolu Babaleye has described a total failure performance of the Senator representing Ondo North and Senate Deputy Majority Leader, Prof Ajayi Boroffice.
Featuring on a Radio Programme in Akure on Monday, Babaleye who is from the same Akoko Southwest local government area with the Senator, however endorsed an industrialist, Chief Alex Ajipe to pick the Ondo North senatorial ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general election due to his great ideas of changing the narrative of the area for good.
The human rights lawyer said Senator Boroffice has no empowerment project for the people since he was given the mandate 12years ago and has disconnected totally from the people who gave him the mandate.
He challenged the Senate Leader to mention any physical project he has completed since he became a senator noting that the district has been visited by insecurity, bad road network which has led to lost of many lives especially in the local government area where Senator Ajayi Boroffice hails from.
Mr Tolu Babaleye also stated that Senator Boroffice failed to secure employment opportunities in federal ministries, Parastatals and agencies for the unemployed youths as evident in other Senatorial districts.
He said the people are particularly angry with Senator Boroffice for taking the appointments which would have been of benefit to them to Akure and Osun states.
Tolu Babaleye who was recently appointed DG of the Alex Ajipe Senatorial campaign organization said his fallout with Senator Ajayi Boroffice is not about personal grudges or gains but the development of Ondo North Senatorial district and uplifting the lives of the people.
According to him, If given the opportunity to serve as a Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Alex Ajipe will make the much awaited difference and the people will enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Babaleye who said Ajipe had influenced over 350 million US dollars investment to Ondo state through the Ondo linyi hub and has generated employment opportunities for over two thousand people despite not elected or appointed into government services stated that he will do more if given chance.
Babaleye who is now the Director General of Alex Ajipe Campaign Organisation, said “we have other senators who have done wonderfully well in their districts…. What has Borrofice done?
“I was once the Director General of Boroffice campaign, he has nothing to show for 12 years as a lawmaker. Let him point out to just one single project he has done for the past 12 years.
“I challenge senator Borrofice to come out and mentioned just one empowerment he has done for the people in the last 12 years. You can go to the street in Akoko, even Oka his home town and see what people are saying about him.
“The fairness thing is to move the senator seat now to Owo/Ose. You know why? Owo/Ose did 12years before Boroffice took over. Now he has spend 12years. So equitably, the seat should return back to Owo.
“(Alex) Ajipe (who is from Owo local government area) is coming with a different. He is coming at a time Ondo North needs help from a senator.
“Akeredolu is the Governor of Ondo state and not for only Ondo North, we should talk about performance and not about Akoko agenda.
“(Boroffice) As the Asiwaju of Akoko, he was given slot for appointment, he gave it to an AKure person, another slot to somebody from osun. Nobody working with boroffice from Ondo North, all his aides are from outside Akoko.
“My fallout with Boroffice is not personal, it’s about my people in Ondo North. Ajipe without been a senator or having any political appointment, he has done well for the people than boroffice.
“If someone (Ajipe) can influence over 350million dollars investment to Ondo state, you should know he will do more if given chance.
“Ajipe is well received in Ondo North. He is the candidate to beat. Everyone is rooting for him because we believe he will perform.
“People are angry due to non performance of senator Boroffice. It’s time to change the narration. When Senator Boroffice came, we all taught he’s the Messiah, but he has failed,” Babaleye concluded.
