Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has given a marching order, that special regular patrol of all these security agencies must be carried out to ensure that infiltrators are brought to book, such that there will be no security breach.
Similarly, Security Agencies in Ondo State also reiterated their resolve towards working in tandem of maintaining their slogan of ‘Zero tolerance to crime’ in the state.
To this end, the Special adviser to the state Governor on security matters who also double as the Ondo State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye spoke on behalf of the Agencies, assured farmers, traders, commuters as well as other residents of the state to go about their legitimate businesses unmolested.
The Corps Commander gave the assurances during the “Show of Force” exercise carried out in the Northern part of the state.
Places visited during the exercise included; Ogbese, Uso, Owo, Elegbeka, Omi-Alafa, Orioyin, Ifon, Imoru, Arinmogija, Oke- Okeluse junction and Okeluse bridge axis.
According to Adeleye, the exercise which had been carried out earlier in the Central and Southern Districts of the state, was to to ascertain that residents as well as travellers enjoy a hitch-free and crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He explained that the exercise which have been ongoing in the last few days is actually to show the level of synergy between the security agencies within the state.
“As you have witnessed, the team comprises of men of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps, the Director of State Security Service, the Amotekun Corps and the Nigerian Police.
“We have all been working round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property in Ondo state. It’s an exercise that will continue for now in view of the present security threat that is all over the country,
“We want to give people of the state a sense of belonging and a sense of security, that on their way back to their various destinations after the Sallah celebration, they can do so without being molested or distracted.
“You will recall that few days to the Sallah holiday, we did assure that it’s going to be crime-free and we thank God Almighty that we were able to at least maintain good and a serene atmosphere throughout Sallah holiday and you know most people will still travel to their destinations after the holiday and this is why they exercise continues”, he stated.
Akogun Adeleye who doubles as Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, while describing Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as a leader who places a lot of premiums on the safety of lives and property of residents of the State, thanked him for his immense supports which has helped the Corps record successes in its operations.
“In a couple of days from now, the state government has decided to further assist us in the provision of basic equipment needed by all security agencies to ensure our smooth operations.
“Specifically it’s in the pipeline that the government should provide vehicles for officers and men of the Nigerian Army, the DSS, the Civil Defence, men of Amoketun Corps as well as the Nigerian Police, to enhance swift responses to distress calls within the state.
“In addition to this, the Governor has given a marching order, that regular patrol of all these security agencies must be carried out to ensure that infiltrators are brought to book, such that there will be no security breach.
“What we observed in the last few months is that these attackers operate outside Ondo State, they come into the border towns, operate and retreat.
“So we contacted the security agencies in Edo and Kogi States which are the major areas where they retreat and they have agreed to cooperate with us”,he explained.
Akogun Adeleye further hinted, that in a couple of days from now, a major onslaught is in the pipeline to completely clear the forest reserves within the boundaries of Ondo-Kogi and Ondo-Edo so as to dislodge these criminals from our farmlands.
He, however, added, that the Governor, at the State Executive Council Meeting, had signed to into Law, the bill to the amendment of Amotekun Corps.
“It is aimed at strengthening the operational capability of Ondo State Security Network Agencies (Amotekun Corps) and will transcend into greater synergy with all mother security agencies in the state. All these are aimed at ensuring that adequate security is emplaced within the state.
