It was a moment of celebration today at Mummy’s Place International school, Akure, the Ondo State capital as the Proprietress Dr. Damilola Oshin, was given a heroic welcome after the school emerged overall Best Private School in Nigeria at the just concluded World Teacher’s Day which took place at Eagle’s square, FCT, Abuja on the 5th of October, 2022.
It was like a triumphant entry as Representatives of the Ondo state government, parents, teachers and pupils of Mummy’s Place International Nursery and Primary School, on Tuesday 11th October, 2022, converged to celebrate the Award as the Best Private School in Nigeria.
The award which came with a brand new 15 seater Bus for the school was dedicated to God, the children, the parents and the teachers.
The teachers and students who could not hide their joy also used the occasion to welcome the proprietress, Dr Damilola Oshin from Abuja where the award was presented to her by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo during this year’s World Teachers day in Abuja.
The Proprietress, Dr. Damilola Oshin, while addressing newsmen in Akure today, expressed her happiness, describing the award was a miracle, because the school keeps doing their best in improving children’s education, thereby leading to the recognition by the Federal Government.
Oshin noted that Mummy’s Place School believes so much in children and such belief keeps it going inspite of challenges in the education sector.
She added that the school’s pupils are in the hearts of the teachers and they try their best for children always.
“In the course of the welcome jamboree, officials of the Ondo State Ministry of Education led by Mrs Famewo, were spotted as they were said to have come for what was referred to as their regular school quality assurance inspection. This is one of the ways government ensures quality service delivery by schools including private schools.
“The proprietress also commended the government on involving private schools in state organized seminars, talks and workshops.
“Love helps the helpless to see that there is help somewhere. It is a very important aspect of humanity, Children need loads of love and we should be there for them”, Dr Oshin said
She said, “Every parents should be worried because of the ASUU strike, it is painful and worrisome to see that their education is affected because of strike, the only way is to continue to pray. Parents should get the children engaged in anyway because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop”.
“Education services should not be business oriented it is a calling to nuture children, build them and get them to a place of independence and education service must reach all strata of the economy”.
“We’ve been trying to keep the standards , this year is just a year that we are recognized and we will just keep doing what we have been doing. They came from Abuja to look at our facilities and they were surprised, the children are neat, cultured and loving. We will continue to be focused and committed, we won’t relent to bring out the potentials in the students”, Dr Oshin said.
Mrs Dunni Famewo, a representative from Ondo State Ministry of Education while congratulating the school and the proprietress, added that the award is well deserved.
She stressed that in 2021, the Ministry came to do old school evaluation and the school did well at the end of the evaluation, so It’s not a surprise that the school won the award.
Mrs Nancy Olowomuwagun, one of the teachers of the school, noted that she feels so fulfilled and excited being a teacher at the school when the national recognition came, noting that the school has made her to have a passion for teaching profession.
Mr Oluwaseyi Akinwunmi said he feels good and honoured to be a teacher at the school.
Mrs Mary Johnson, a Parent opined that she is happy to have her wards at the school and to be identified with the proprietress of the school. “I am happy because the woman is a success and an embodiment of success. She’s a big role model to the parents and the children as well”.
Mrs Omolola Awodunmila who is also a parent, stated that the award was a well-deserved one, overtime and what makes it special is because of persistence and focus, stressing that the students and the management are superb.
Another parent,Mr Festus Okundanaye while rejoicing with the management of the school, noted that the foundation of school was strong and built on Godliness and moral, thereby making the pupils to be doing well with a sound mental health.
