RE AKOKO SOUTHEAST/SOUTHWEST HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SEAT: PDP CANDIDATE ARCH GBENGA KOLAWOLE REJECTS RESULTS
HEADS TO COURT.
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP House of Representatives candidate for Akoko South East/West Federal Constituency Arch Gbenga Kolawole has rejected the outcome of the election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC that purportedly declared the All Progressive Congress APC candidate Adegboyega Adefarati as winner of Saturday February 25th general elections.
INEC declared APC Adegboyega Adefarati winner having purportedly scored the highest number of votes cast in the two local governments that make up the federal constituency.
In the figure declared by INEC, APC candidate Adegboyega Adefarati was said to have polled APC 25,874 while PDP Candidate Arch Gbenga Kolawole Scored PDP 18,403 and SDP 4,560.
The Candidate of PDP in the said election Arch Gbenga Kolawole faulted INEC on the retun of Adegboyega Adefarati on the ground that, it was a declaration that was made in contempt of Judgment of Federal High Court delivered on 17th February, 2023 in which the court declared that APC has no candidate in Akoko Southeast/Southwest Federal Constituency barred APC and its candidate from participating in the Saturday general elections. The same said court also barred INEC from having anything whatsoever to so with APC in the House of Reps election.
The PDP Candidate Arch Gbenga Kolawole however said INEC should declare and return him as the winner of the said election being the candidate that scored the highest number of lawful votes and not the APC candidate who going by the Federal High Court judgement was not a candidate in the election.
He therefore urged his supporters to remain calm and be law abiding citizens saying he will recover and reclaim his mandate in due course as Adegboyega Adefarati who took his manipulation beyond his party is only a place holder and temporary Member elect. His manipulative prowess would be demystified in a matter of time because after this darkness, there will be light.
