….MARCH 18 ELECTION: APC’s OMO defeats Ondo West PDP lawmaker Hon Tomide
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the just concluded Ondo state house of assembly election, for Ondo west constituency 1, Otunba Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju(OMO) has defeated the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency who also contested in the election under PDP, Hon. Tomide Akinrinbido and the SDP candidate, Ademoloye Azeez is a kneeling contested house of assembly election.
It will be recalled that the incumbent lawmaker who lost his re-election bid to the APC candidate was elected in the 2019 election after forming a political alliance with the APC, under the defunct ZLP and before the expiration of his 4 years in office, he defected to the PDP under the political in which he contested for the just conducted election which he lost.
There is no gain in saying that the defeated lawmaker is a political godson to the former Governor of Ondo State, HE Dr Olusegun Mimiko, whom the lawmaker has been depending on for his political emergence in any contest, after the 2019 election.
In Ondo west constituency 1, there are six(6) political Wards constitute the constituency which is: Wards 1, 3, 7, 9, 10 and 11, and elections were held in all the Wards for the seat of MHA in the state House for the 10th assembly.
After the peaceful conduct of the election, the candidate of the APC defeated the incumbent of the lawmaker, Hon. Tomide Akinribido who happens to be the political godson of the former governor and other political parties that took part in the process.
In announcing the official result from the Ward Collation Center in Ondo West, the candidate of the APC, Otunba Moyinolorun Ogunwumiji(OMO) was declared the winner and returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Dr Wale Fasakin.
OMO won all six(6) constituency Wards.

APC: 8,456 – winner of the election
PDP: 3,966
SDP: 2,594
