…..Bisi Akande, Akeredolu, Fayemi, Mimiko to deliver lecture, Keynote addresses to honour Afenifere leader
The University of Ibadan (UI) alumni association, Ondo State Chapter, will hold a public service lecture in commemoration of the 97th birthday of the national leader of yoruba’s apex socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti.
Fasoranti is one of the few first set of the university alumni still alive, hence the need to celebrate him.
The lecture titled: ‘Good Governance In Nigeria: Issues and Prospect for National Development’, is billed for Friday, May 12, 2023, at Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, Federal University Akure.
The Chairman of the association, Barr. Bola Kayode, who made known in a statement on Wednesday, extolled the virtues of the nonagenarian, saying the lecture is imperative due to Fasoranti’s sterling records of achievement and prominent roles played in nation building.
He noted that the lecture is under the distinguished Chairmanship of Chief Bisi Akande, a former Governor of Osun State, while the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is the special guest of honour.
Bola Kayode said, “the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi is the keynote speaker, with the a former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Femi Mimiko, being the guest speaker.
“Royal fathers of the day are: Deji of Akure, His Royal Majesty Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi; Oluabo of Iluabo, His Royal Highness Oba Olu Falae. Hosting the event is Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa.
Also in honour of the elder statesman, prominent personalities including —Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele; Prof. Femi Mimiko, will be honored with awards.
Others for award are: the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Technology (FUTA) Prof. Adenike Oladiji; Vice Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology OAUSTECH, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa; the Olubaka of Oka, HRM Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye.
