A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Professional Alliance (PA) has commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, CON over his position on the party’s zoning formula for the 10th National Assembly leadership.
Akeredolu had in a statement personally signed by him, rejected the proposed zoning formula, saying it is brazenly skewed, unjust, and targeted against some zones and individuals.
The Group described Akeredolu as the conscience of the party, adding that his sincere interventions have always been for the good of the people and the country at large.
Coordinator of the group, Lawson Omolayo in a statement on Sunday said Governor Akeredolu is a unique leader who will not fold his hands in the face of injustice and inequality.
The statement reads:”We have read a press statement countering Governor Akeredolu’s position. The said press statement lacked reasoning and in-depth thought. Rather than address issues around the zoning formula, the statement only validated the decide of the APC NWC.
“The statement signed by Ambassador Sola Iji was needless and unnecessary. It was an unsolicited response that exposed hidden motives and bitterness. The leadership of the party in Ondo State is settled. Governor Akeredolu is the leader of APC in Ondo State.
“Those who were nowhere during the struggle for Asiwaju’s presidency are now claiming to love him more than the governor who fought tooth and nail to bring this crown and trophy to the Southwest.
“Where was Sola Iji when Akeredolu was campaigning round churches across the Southwest? Where was Sola Iji when Akeredolu was insisting on Southern Presidency? Did Sola Iji support Asiwaju as an aspirant ?
“For us as members and leaders of APC in Ondo State, we align ourselves with the thoughts and positions of Governor Akeredolu. He has spoken the mind of majority of the party members.
“We, therefore, urge the Governor to ignore these bootlickers and political jobbers who are out to play bread and butter politics.
