Ondo set up joint patrol of military, paramilitary to crush kidnappers

… As Amotekun Corps deploys 2,000 for Eid-el-Kabir

In its tireless efforts at ensuring that people of the Sunshine State, especially residents of Imoru in Ose local government sleep with their two eyes closed, the Ondo state government has approved a Military and Para-Military Station in Imoru.

This is just as the Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, has deployed 2,000 officers across the 18 local government areas of the state to ensure a safe Eid-el-Kabir celebration and continued peace in the State.

State Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made the disclosure while speaking with The Hope in Akure yesterday at the Command’s Headquarters in Akure.

Emphasizing on the Military station, he said the move was to curtail the excesses of criminals as well as kidnappers who actually resides outside the state.

The criminals, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, said they normally come through rivers to perpetuate crime and run back, saying that is why government had approved that the station be situated in Imoru and become operational before Salah festival.

According to him; “We had put in place, a military and paramilitary operations around the Forestry areas to checkmate the activities of kidnappers and other criminals.

“We want to enjoin the Chiefs and the Olus to desist from allocating plots of lands to these faceless kidnappers and herders, adding that government has concluded arrangements to ensure that they are registered before they can be accommodated.

“So, at the moment, we have commenced military and paramilitary operations around all boarder that are identified with black spots which are the Akoko axis were we have the same type of issue with Kogi/ Ondo and the Edo/Ondo axis. Those areas will adequately be taken care of during the holiday”, he assured.

Speaking further on a planned hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Amotekun Commander revealed that the Command has deployed 2000 officers comprising of uniformed and intelligence crew, strike force and the boarder patrol crews that will commence a 24-hour border patrol during the period toward keeping off criminal elements.

“We are going to commence a-24 hours boarder patrol in conjunction with all security agencies in the state including the police, Civil Defence, Army and the Department of State Service from the midnight of Wednesday to Monday.

“All major junctions in and out of all local government headquarters and state are going to be manned by our personnel.

“All these are measures put in place to ensure that the residents of Ondo state would enjoy a Salah holiday without security breaches.

“We however request that residence should assist the Corps with useful and timely information.
